SUMMARY:
The Practical Nursing Clinical Instructor is entrusted with imparting the knowledge and skill each student needs to be successful by providing quality delivery of assigned courses while ensuring that all students achieve competency in the course objectives. Instructors evaluate and resolve student questions, issues, and problems, and ensure appropriate action is taken to the satisfaction of the student, Dorsey Schools, and/or regulatory agencies in compliance with policies, procedures and legal requirements. Instructors are to be motivating, fair, impartial, creative, dedicated, and professional. The Practical Nursing Clinical Instructors will supervise, lead, and teach Practical Nursing students at a "to be determined" medical facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Lecture, conduct, and supervise clinical experiences of RN/PN students and provide in-services as directed.
Instruct students in the principles and application of physical, biological, and psychological subjects related to the role of the PN as necessary.
Plan and coordinate daily learning experiences that individualize both student and patient needs.
Provide learning opportunities that enhance student development in the application of the nursing process, interpersonal skills acquisition, and technical procedures.
Provide guidance and education to PN students on problem solving and effective communication between co-workers, patients and patient family members across a variety of cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic levels.
Participate in campus-wide orientation of RN/PN students.
Supervise and monitor students on an ongoing basis as they perform technical and patient care skills.
Assess patient status on an ongoing basis to assure appropriate learning experiences.
Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and/or Clinical Coordinator to monitor student progress and maintain records of student clinical experiences.
Maintain accurate records of students' time and attendance, evaluations, experiences, performance, and progress. Report any/all concerns to the Director of Nursing/Clinical Coordinator.
Collaborate with each PN student's campus Career Services Coordinator (CSC) to initiate the job placement process. May act as intermediary between the individual nursing managers, hospital HR department and CSC regarding open PN positions and placements.
