Department Overview
The Safety and Infrastructure Protection Team (SIPT) serves under the Wildfire Operations (WO) – Wildfire, Emergency and Operations (WEO) organization and performs wildfire mitigation, wildfire prevention, asset protection, and emergency fire response to support PG&E’s stand that catastrophic wildfires shall stop. The purpose of the SIPT organization is to safeguard PG&E coworkers and our communities by protecting our infrastructure through ignition containment, hazard mitigation, and emergency response. To accomplish this, the team performs a wide range of emergency responses, wildfire mitigation, and routine work activities.
Position Summary
Operations Support Specialists work in a round-the-clock/365-day operation. They receive information and requests for assistance from various sources, including SIPT field units, HAWC, PSS Team, Fresno Dispatch, and by monitoring agency radio communications. They work in conjunction with field supervisors to evaluate the need for response to various types of incidents including Fires, 911 standby, EPSS outages, emergency switching and emergency work. They assign and track resources utilizing a resource management platform throughout the service territory.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
Bay Minimum: $102,000
Bay Maximum: $162,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Job Responsibilities
Perform SIPT internal and external communications.
Collaborate with internal teams to asses/validate hazards and risks.
Ensure proper response to hazards or threats to company/public safety and/or company assets/property.
Provide situational awareness to SIPT leadership and other internal partners.
Provide SIPT situational updates during group meetings and/or calls.
Conduct training for communications personnel in the operation of radio/telephone systems, computer-aided dispatching (resource management), and documentation.
Request fire prediction analysis, as needed.
Execute special projects and/or initiatives.
Work with and assist coworkers in learning radio transmission terminology, area geography, and departmental rules/regulations/SOGS.
Qualifications
Minimum:
High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
2 years of job-related experience as a firefighter
2 years of job-related experience as a dispatcher in a public safety department
ICS-300 Intermediate Incident Command System
S-290 - Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior
Ability to work 24 hours per day-7 days per week environment
Desired:
Bachelor’s degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
AS in Fire Technology
Experience working in a public safety agency, performing resource allocation and tracking on a statewide level
Experience in training others
Experience preparing Incident Action Plans
Experience in the use of mapping tools
Experience working at the local level at all All-Hazards Incident Command Team
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Proficient in Adobe Acrobat Pro
Ability to work collaboratively with others
Ability to plan, prioritize and coordinate
Ability to handle emergency response situations and to work in a stressful environment
Ability to work independently with little day-to-day guidance
Clear and precise communication skills via various methods and to different audiences
Basic understanding of utility procedures and operations
