The SMX Space and Intelligence (S&I) Business Unit (BU) is on the ground floor across the future remote sensing ecosystem for all orbital regimes (LEO, MEO, HEO, and GEO). We have an immediate opportunity for an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Automation Engineer who is excited to apply their talents to our customer's challenging project and one who will thrive in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is a recognized professional with hands-on expertise and an excellent understanding of engineering processes supporting large, National Defense, Agile software development programs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for IaaS environments
Automate provisioning and configuration of compute, storage, networking, and virtualization resources
Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and modules for infrastructure automation
Support IaC workflows using tools such as Terraform or similar
Integrate IaC automation into CI/CD pipelines to enable versioned, tested infrastructure changes
Collaborate with network, systems, platform, and security teams to translate infrastructure requirements into code
Enforce infrastructure standards, consistency, and best practices through automation
Support infrastructure lifecycle activities including builds, upgrades, patches, and decommissioning
Troubleshoot and remediate automation failures and infrastructure drift
Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and automation standards
Support security and compliance requirements in a regulated environment
Participate in Agile planning, reviews, and retrospectives
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Experience
Secret clearance
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
4+ years of professional experience in infrastructure engineering, automation, or DevOps roles
Hands-on experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code
Strong experience with automation tools such as Ansible
Experience working with Linux systems
Experience scripting in Bash, Python, or similar languages
Demonstrated ability to automate complex, multi-step infrastructure workflows
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Detail-oriented and able to own work through completion
Ability to work on-site at the customer location
Desired Skills & Experience
Experience with Terraform or similar declarative IaC tools
Experience automating virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere)
Experience automating network and storage infrastructure
Experience with cloud or hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, GovCloud) Familiarity with configuration drift detection and remediation
Experience integrating IaC with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins)
Experience working in government or secure environments
Familiarity with Git-based workflows and infrastructure version control
Experience writing reusable, modular automation code

The proposed salary for this position is:
$123,900—$206,400 USD
