Job Title: Bakery Machine Operator (Food Production / Packaging)

Job Description

The Bakery Machine Operator is a hands-on production role responsible for operating and monitoring bakery processing and packaging equipment in a food manufacturing environment. This position supports daily production by setting up equipment, monitoring product quality, adjusting machine settings, and ensuring all products meet specification, safety, and GMP standards.

Operators are trained by experienced team members and work closely with bakery associates and supervisors to keep production running safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor bakery production and packaging equipment

  • Adjust machine settings including weights, speeds, labels, and ingredient feeds Inspect finished products to ensure quality and specification compliance

  • Follow all safety, GMP, and food quality standards

  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas during and after production runs

  • Communicate issues related to quality, safety, or equipment performance to leadership

  • Assist with training and cross-training of team members as needed Support line coverage including breaks and rotations when required Perform routine safety and quality checks throughout the shift

Essential Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in food manufacturing or a related production environment

  • Experience working with food processing or packaging equipment

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability

  • Ability to read and understand basic English (SOPs, production orders, labels)

  • Basic math skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (8–12 hours) and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Willingness to work mandatory overtime or weekends as needed

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous bakery or food production experience

  • Experience in manufacturing, production, or warehouse environments

  • Experience supporting high-volume or fast-paced production lines

Work Environment

Fast-paced bakery manufacturing environment with GMP standards. The facility can be hot, loud, and physically active at times. Operators are required to follow all PPE and safety requirements, including wearing non-slip, oil/water-resistant safety shoes, and hard hats.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sacramento, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
