Summary:

This position is 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday, and supports students who are experiencing mental, behavioral, and emotional health challenges.

4 hours of the day will be facilitating daily lunch service, which includes picking up lunches, serving the students, and cleanup.

You will work as an Ed Tech 1-to-1 for the remained of the school day, supporting the classroom teacher through assisting in the instructional process

and assisting in maintaining an environment conducive to learning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Daily pick up and transportation of school lunch.

  • Orders lunch for school students on days when alternative plans are needed.

  • Works with the Director to ensure that any alternative nutritional and allergy needs are met.

  • Ensures the lunch is served daily to students with necessary support to keep school on schedule.

  • Cleans kitchen and equipment after every lunch service.

  • Must have up to date ServSafe® Certification.

  • Provides supervision of students assigned to help with lunch by training, coaching and encouraging appropriate job results from students.

  • Other related duties as assigned by the Director including light housekeeping, organizing or participating in school activities.

  • Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the classroom teacher or specialist under the&nbspect supervision of the classroom teacher.

  • Assist the teacher with educational requirements by supporting the educational plan, including goals and activities, involving students in community and social programming based on individual need, scheduling and assigning instructional activities and following up on results.

  • Provide supervision of students in non-instructional settings.

  • Effectively use behavioral systems that have been put into place by the classroom teacher, appropriate specialist, and treatment team.

  • Model appropriate behaviors for students.

  • Demonstrate ability to set limits and personal boundaries with students.

  • Maintain a safe environment for all students. Have knowledge of Safety Care and use procedures effectively.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of areas assigned as well as common areas for the physical plant and report any damage or equipment problems to the supervisor.

  • Demonstrate ability to care for and appropriately use equipment and supplies.

  • Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and maintenance of classroom record keeping.

  • Assist in the use and display of enrichment materials, such as development of bulletin boards and display of student work.

  • Participate in weekly consultation sessions with the classroom teacher or specialist.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE & JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience preparing food for groups.

  • Valid state driver’s license.

  • Current ServSafe® certification.

  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Understanding of proper food preparation and safe handling.

  • Ability to read and write simple math.

  • Ability to safely and effectively use fry-o-lator, grill tops, multiple ovens, commercial mixers, can openers, electric knives and other kitchen equipment.
