Position Overview

A Personal Home Care Specialist (PSS) provides compassionate, client-centered non-medical support to individuals who wish to remain safely and comfortably in their homes. PSSs assist clients with daily living activities, promote independence, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and dignity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Personal Care
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene.\ \
  • Support mobility needs, including transfers, ambulation, and positioning.\ \
  • Provide assistance with incontinence care and personal cleanliness.\ \
Home Support Tasks
  • Perform light housekeeping, including laundry, dishes, sweeping, and tidying.\ \
  • Prepare simple, nutritious meals following the clients preferences and dietary needs.\ \
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free home environment.\ \
Companionship & Social Support
  • Offer friendly conversation, emotional support, and companionship.\ \
  • Accompany clients on errands, appointments, and community outings (when approved).\ \
  • Encourage engagement in preferred hobbies and meaningful daily activities.\ \
Documentation & Communication
  • Accurately clock in/out using the agencys approved app.\ \
  • Document services provided and communicate any changes in client condition.\ \
  • Report incidents, concerns, or safety issues to the supervisor immediately.\ \
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all agency policies, state regulations, and infection-control practices.\ \
  • Use PPE when required and maintain professional boundaries at all times.\ \
  • Uphold client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency standards.\ \
Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older.\ \

Current PSS certification approved by the State of Maine or willing to complete, if eligible.\ \

Ability to pass background checks, which include Adult Protective Services (APS) and Child Protective Services (CPS) as required by Maine state regulations.\ \

Valid drivers license, proof of current automobile insurance and reliable transportation (if transporting clients).\ \

Ability to lift, transfer, or support clients as required.[]{style="fon
