Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Structural Engineering Section Manager 2 . This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get To Do:

As a Section Manager you will be expected to spend roughly 20% of your effort on Functional Homeroom (FHR) responsibilities and 80% of your efforts focused on technical program support under the Sentinel – Launch Systems team.

The selected candidate will be responsible for a Launch Systems Infrastructure - Structural Engineering discipline FHR Section and will report directly to an SDS Structural Department Manager. You will provide career mentorship and operational support to a Functional Home Room (FHR) team (Section) of between 10 and 15 Individual Contributors (ICs) based on Engineering goals, objectives, and company policy. Key FHR responsibilities include recruiting, staffing, retaining talent, performance management, process familiarization and training for Section members.

The 80% technical assignment will support a diverse analysis team including structural, electrical, and thermal analysts and report directly to the IPT Lead.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 8 years of experience; or Master's degree with 6 years of experience.

  • Experience in a technical leadership/management role.

  • Experience in writing and presenting technical content.

  • Basic understanding of structural and/or electrical analysis principals.

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need. ​

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • At least 1 year leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with Abaqus, Ansys, FEMAP, MATHCAD.

  • Experience with one or more of the following languages: VBA, Python, MATLAB.

  • Strong experience leading teams and training others.

  • Experience with individual contributor performance assessments.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

  • Operates independently with limited to no supervision, and the ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers,

  • Exposure to structural test applications,

  • TeamCenter CPLM experience.

  • Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA.

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
