Registered Nurse (RN) – 1:1 School Nurse Assignment

Location: Roxboro, NC

Start Date: March 9, 2026 or ASAP

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:45 AM–3:00 PM (35 hours/week)

Contract Length: 3 Months (with extension into next school year)

Modality: 1:1 School RN

Position Overview

Amergis Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and experienced 1:1 School Registered Nurse (RN) to provide individualized care to a 10-year-old 5th-grade student in the school setting. This position focuses on delivering safe, supportive, and comprehensive nursing services in accordance with physician orders, school district policies, and Amergis standards of care.

This student is terminally ill , and it is essential that the RN assigned is comfortable and skilled in providing high-quality, empathetic care in a school environment.

The student is described as pleasant, clean, well-cared-for at home, and supported by a loving family. The student enjoys being at school and has intermittent periods of alertness.

Daily Care Responsibilities

The RN will support the student with:

  • Total care assistance throughout the school day

  • G-tube feeding

  • Water flushes

  • Airway clearance including

  • Seizure monitoring (Valtoco nasal spray on site)

  • Respiratory monitoring (oxygen 90–95% baseline)

  • Diapering/incontinence care

  • Maintaining safe positioning and providing neck/head support

  • Observing and documenting any changes in status

  • Supporting comfort, safety, and quality of life

    Minimum Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice

  • 1 year of school nursing experience preferred

  • Pediatric experience preferred

  • Current CPR certification (if applicable)

  • TB test or chest X-ray (if applicable)

  • Current health certificate per district/state rules

  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old

    No conditional or provisional licenses accepted.

  • Interview: Not required (15-minute screening call by BDM)

  • Charting system: None

  • Orientation: None required

  • Dress Code: None specified (school-appropriate)
