Position Description

Texas State University (https://www.txst.edu/) invites applicants for an inaugural Program Director for a Master of Science degree in Medical Dosimetry in theCollege of Health Professions (https://www.health.txst.edu/) . The Program Director will develop the program in collaboration with the faculty and seek accreditation through the JRCERT . The program is tentatively slated to begin in Spring 2027 with its first cohort of students and faculty.

This is a full-time 9-month position with summer employment, a nontenure line Clinical Open Rank faculty appointment which includes teaching and service responsibilities with release time provided for administrative duties.

The Master of Medical Dosimetry program is housed on the Round Rock campus on the third floor of the Avery Building. The Dean’s office and other College of Health Professions departments are also located in the Avery Building. Reporting to the Dean or his designee, the Medical Dosimetry Program Director is the administrator in charge of the program. They are responsible for the implementation of the university, college, and program policies, and the development, coordination, administration, and delivery of a high-quality educational student experience within the program. The Program Director articulates the Medical Dosimetry program’s aspirations to constituents inside and outside the university community, develops and implements strategic goals, and provides collaborative leadership. Dynamic leadership, clear communication, strong interpersonal skills, and a keen strategic vision are crucial characteristics required for success.

Drawing on the assistance and advice of the faculty and staff, the Program Director has lead responsibility for the administration of the program, including preparing and managing the budget to achieve program goals and curriculum development. In addition, the Program Director is responsible for providing leadership for matters related to accreditation, teaching schedules, recruitment of new faculty, evaluation of faculty and staff performance, support for grant and external development opportunities, student recruitment and advising, and formulation and implementation of strategic plans and policies. Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications for Appointment at the Clinical Assistant Professor rank (less than five years teaching experience):

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited university.

  • Minimum two years of clinical experience as a registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in ultrasound imaging.

  • An ARDMS registration in one or more sonography concentrations.

  • College level teaching experience.

  • Demonstrated current and contemporary competence in the teaching content area as well as a commitment to service and scholarship.

  • Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance in educational theories and techniques.

  • Experience in the effective administration of a university department to include curricular evaluation and design, programmatic fiscal and personnel management, accreditation, and strategic planning.

  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning (e.g., continuing professional education in the specialty area (s), higher education degrees, research, writing, speaking, training, etc.).

  • Working knowledge of MS Office.

Required Qualifications for Appointment at the Clinical Associate Professor rank (minimum five years teaching experience):

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited university.

  • Minimum three years of clinical experience as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist.

  • Holds current Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board ( MDCB ) certification or the American Board of Physicists ( ABMP ) as a medical physicist.

  • Documents two years’ experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program.

  • Demonstrated teaching and learning contributions, including advances in curriculum, pedagogy, course delivery, or similar innovation, and a commitment to service.

  • Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance in educational theories and techniques.

  • Experience in the effective administration of a university department to include curricular evaluation and design, programmatic fiscal and personnel management, accreditation, and strategic planning.

  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning (e.g., continuing professional education in the specialty area (s), higher education degrees, research, writing, speaking, training, etc.).

  • Working knowledge of MS Office.

  • Demonstrated student success-focused initiatives.

  • Demonstrated leadership and experience in building alliances and/or partnerships across the college, university, academic, and business communities.
