ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

Full time job : 40 hours a week

Job overview:

The Assistant Controller is part of the EMEA Finance team and reports directly to the Financial Group Controller,. Following its privatization by the private equity firm, the company is strengthening and further professionalizing its finance organization in a dynamic environment. Working closely with the team, the Assistant Controller supports the end-to-end finance operations of the company and contributes to group period-end closings (including consolidation), management reporting, KPI analytics, and accounting activities. In addition, the role supports the maintenance of and adherence to internal controls and risk management procedures and assists in both internal and external audit processes. The Assistant Controller also contributes to finance improvement initiatives supporting both Finance and the business.

Core Job Duties

• Support monthly and annual closing activities.

• Prepare and assist with management and group reporting inputs.

• Perform financial analyses and variance reviews.

• Perform control reviews and related analyses.

• Contribute to finance improvement projects.

• Support accounting operations as a backup when required.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Finance, Accounting, Audit & Controlling, or a related field.

• 2–5 years of relevant experience in finance and controlling.

• Experience in an international environment is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

• Hands-on, all-round finance profile with flexibility and adaptability in a changing organization.

• Proactive, curious, eager to learn, and comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.

• Solid knowledge of accounting and closing processes (monthly, quarterly, and annual), including external audit support.

• Basic knowledge of accounting standards (primarily IFRS; US GAAP is a plus).

• Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to translate numbers into business insights.

• Comfortable working with digital tools, strong Excel skills, and the ability to leverage AI and automation tools in finance.

• Experience with SAP (ECC and/or S/4HANA, SAP BPC) is preferred.

• Strong motivation to grow and develop within Finance & Control.

• A good command of Dutch and English (both written and spoken) is required for the role; any additional language would be a plus.

De Assistent Controller maakt deel uit van het EMEA Finance-team en rapporteert rechtstreeks aan de Financial Group Controller,. Na de privatisering door de private-equity bedrijf

is de organisatie bezig haar financiële functie verder te versterken en te professionaliseren binnen een dynamische omgeving. In nauwe samenwerking met het team ondersteunt de Assistent Controller de end-to-end financiële processen van de organisatie en draagt hij/zij bij aan de periodieke groepsafsluitingen (inclusief consolidatie), managementrapportages, KPI-analyses en boekhoudkundige werkzaamheden. Daarnaast ondersteunt de Assistent Controller het naleven van interne beheersingsmaatregelen en risicomanagement en assisteert bij zowel intern- als externe auditprocessen. Daarnaast wordt een bijdrage geleverd aan organisatiebrede verbeterinitiatieven

Kerntaken

• Ondersteunen van maand- en jaarafsluitingen.

• Opstellen en ondersteunen van management- en groepsrapportages.

• Uitvoeren van financiële analyses en variantieanalyses.

• Uitvoeren van controlewerkzaamheden en bijbehorende analyses.

• Bijdragen aan verbeterprojecten binnen Finance.

• Ondersteunen van boekhoudkundige werkzaamheden als back-up wanneer nodig.

Opleiding en Ervaring

• Afgeronde hbo-opleiding in Finance, Accounting, Audit & Controlling of een vergelijkbare richting.

• 2–5 jaar relevante werkervaring in finance en controlling.

• Ervaring in een internationale omgeving is een pré.

Kennis, Vaardigheden en Competenties

• Hands-on, allround Finance-profiel met flexibiliteit en aanpassingsvermogen binnen een veranderende organisatie.

• Proactief, nieuwsgierig, leergierig en comfortabel in de samenwerking met diverse stakeholders.

• Gedegen kennis van boekhouding en afsluitprocessen (maandelijks, per kwartaal en jaarlijks), inclusief ondersteuning bij externe accountantscontrole.

• Basiskennis van verslaggevingsstandaarden (voornamelijk IFRS; kennis van US GAAP is een plus).

• Sterke analytische en cijfermatige vaardigheden en het vermogen om cijfers te vertalen naar business inzichten.

• Vaardig in het werken met digitale tools, sterke Excel-vaardigheden en de wil om AI- en automatiseringstools binnen Finance te benutten/implementeren.

• Ervaring met SAP (ECC en/of S/4HANA, SAP BPC) is een pré.

• Sterke motivatie om te groeien en zich verder te ontwikkelen binnen Finance & Control.

• Goede beheersing van de Nederlandse en Engelse taal, zowel mondeling als schriftelijk; extra talen zijn een plus.
