Join the Office of Advancing Equity (OAE) and support MnDOT’s efforts to deliver transportation projects while expanding opportunities for local small businesses. OAE works to identify, develop, and package smaller-scope highway heavy transportation improvement projects, while increasing participation from local contractors. Through this work, OAE helps advance transportation improvements while supporting contractor capacity development.
In this role, you’ll provide technical coordination and program delivery support for transportation projects administered through the Office of Advancing Equity (OAE). The position will apply established engineering standards, requirements, and MnDOT specifications to assist in project scoping, development, construction coordination, and compliance oversight. The role focuses on implementation, stakeholder coordination, and ensuring accessibility and transportation improvements and plans are delivered in accordance with Federal, State and local laws, requirements and standards.
Job Duties: Examples of work for this specific vacancy include but are not limited to:
Provide technical support and coordination in the development and review of projects, designs, and construction plans to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with MnDOT standards.
Assist with design development and plan preparation for transportation and accessibility improvement projects using MnDOT design standards and specifications.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and internal MnDOT offices to support project scoping, design review, and constructability considerations.
Document field observations and assist with project tracking, compliance verification, and construction coordination.
Apply MnDOT standards, design specifications, and contract administration practices to support project development and delivery activities.
Support training and skills development efforts to increase understanding of contract administration, design specifications, MnDOT requirements, and applicable State, Federal, and local standards among staff, contractors, and partners
Perform field inspections and construction support activities to verify work is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and safety requirements.
This position is located at district headquarters in Roseville and has the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule that includes in office and teleworking time. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
- Four years of experience performing preliminary design activities or related activities;
Or
A combination of one year experience in any of the following areas: design, roadway or bridge construction, materials, soils, surveys, and/or right of way may substitute for year of experience performing preliminary design activities.
Note: A Two year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four-year degrees: Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Land Surveying / Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of experience. (In order for education coursework to be considered in lieu of work experience you must submit a copy of your transcripts).
