Auto and Mobile Equipment Mechanic
Pay Rate :
$40.24/hr.

Hourly Full-Time (7am – 3:30pm – Monday-Friday; Some weekends required)

The Job You Will Perform:
Inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on mobile and automotive equipment, including but not limited to forklifts, clamp trucks, service trucks, and specialized mill mobile equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and diesel systems to identify and correct equipment issues.
Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, brake repairs, tire replacement, lubrication, and system adjustments.
Use diagnostic tools, manuals, and schematics to ensure accurate repairs and compliance with manufacturer and company standards.
Maintain detailed maintenance records and document all repairs, inspections, and parts used.
Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner to minimize operational downtime.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to support mill production goals.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for tools and equipment.
Perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned.
Responsible for the safe execution of the maintenance work in the Auto Shop Area and in any area of Rome Mill, as required, this includes all outlying areas.
Work under the direction of the Auto Shop Lead Man and assists other Auto Mechanics in their work of executing Automotive and other Mobile Equipment maintenance jobs in accordance with plans and schedules.
Model Safe Work Practices and assure that all shop tools and equipment are maintained in a safe working order and per the Shop 5S Plan.
Possess excellent communication skills and be flexible to support changing priorities.

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an automotive or mobile equipment mechanic in an industrial or heavy-equipment environment (manufacturing or paper mill experience preferred).
Strong working knowledge of internal combustion engines, diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrain components.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
Valid driver’s license required; CDL or equipment certifications a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work is performed in an industrial paper mill environment, including outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to X pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
Exposure to noise, grease, machinery, and moving equipment is expected; appropriate PPE is required.
