Delta City Planting Company (Rolling Fork, MS): Irrigation/GPS Specialist & Welding Technician. 2 openings
Requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest, and transport crops to elevator or storage area. Equipment workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayers, combines, back-hoes, mowers, track-hoes, and ATVs/side by sides. Duties include participating in irrigation activities (laying pipe), walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops. Receiving crop for storage at grain storage facility; disposing of spoiled grain; transporting grain from fields to grain bins; loading and unloading grain into trucks while keeping grain level; operating augers and grain conveying equipment; monitoring grain moisture levels; preparing scale tickets; and shoveling grain. Manual duties include loading seed into planters; properly mixing chemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; changing combine cutting heads; using hand tools in fields; welding (minor repairs such as repairing a broken disk - no certification required); performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, fences, gates and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment (no engine repair, but maintenance such as oil changes or changing air filters); regularly servicing equipment; mowing and landscaping on the farm; and lifting items as needed.
Requires Driver's License or ability to obtain/renew upon hire.
