Job Title: Mechanical Technician

1st shift - $25-$30/HR

Job Description

This full-time Mechanical Technician role focuses on advanced mechanical and electrical assembly of complex industrial equipment. You will perform complete electrical assembly of control panels and motion systems, support system start-up and calibration, diagnose and resolve performance issues, and train others. The position requires strong hands-on experience with electronic control panels, motors, motor starters, and motion system controllers, along with the ability to read schematics and apply relevant electrical codes. All work must be completed on time, with high quality, efficiency, and a strong commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble small electrical and mechanical assemblies and junction boxes, including mounting DIN rail, wireway, and components to inner panels.

  • Program and install PLC equipment and verify proper operation.

  • Assemble the motion system to the control enclosure and complete wiring of motors with cable kits, drive boxes, junction boxes, pneumatic solenoid banks, and related components.

  • Lay out panels using measuring devices such as templates, tape measures, steel rulers, and framing squares to ensure accurate component placement.

  • Support the pump run-in process and diagnose electrical issues that arise during testing.

  • Start up motion systems or grow into the capability to start up motion systems and oversee laser and ball-bar calibrations.

  • Perform secondary operations such as drilling, tapping, and other basic fabrication tasks as required.

  • Test assemblies and options to ensure proper operation and troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate tools and techniques.

  • Load PLC programs and confirm proper interface between pump systems and motion systems.

  • Back up control programs and shut systems down safely in preparation for packaging and shipment.

  • Troubleshoot electrical issues using inspection methods and electrical testing equipment to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

  • Maintain accurate red-line drawing markups of changes required during fabrication and communicate updates to the appropriate stakeholders.

  • Apply knowledge of electrical schematics and relevant codes, including UL 508A and National Electric Code (NEC) sections NFPA 70 and NFPA 79, during assembly and troubleshooting.

  • Work efficiently to complete all assignments on schedule, with a focus on defect-free workmanship and adherence to safety procedures.

  • Train or assist in training team members in electrical and mechanical assembly processes as needed.

  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to resolve technical issues and support continuous improvement of assembly processes.

Work Environment

You will work in a small, clean production environment with approximately ten people on the production floor, fostering close collaboration and strong team relationships. The role is hands-on and shop-floor based, involving regular use of hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and industrial equipment such as forklifts and cranes for material handling. Daily work centers around mechanical and electrical assembly of control panels, intensifier pumps, and motion systems, using technologies such as PLCs, motors, motor starters, drive enclosures, and pneumatic components. The environment emphasizes safety, precision, and quality, with a focus on completing assemblies efficiently and defect-free. Standard production hours apply, with expectations of working on-site in a structured yet supportive setting where clean, practical work attire suitable for a manufacturing floor is appropriate.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58000.00 - $73000.00/yr.
