Summary:
Performs skilled installations, repairs and maintenance of HVAC systems, fixtures, and related equipment. Also performs installation, inspection, testing, preventive maintenance and minor repairs on plumbing, boiler, fire detection, electrical and mechanical, as needed. Also performs basic carpentry, painting, and general maintenance activities on the building and on equipment, as needed.
Responsibilities:
Performs skilled work of a HVAC technician to include, but not limited to: installs, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on air conditioning equipment, refrigerators, ice makers and other related equipment, repairs/replaces blowers, thermostats, duostats, coils, condensers, switches, pumps, compressors, etc., starts and stops equipment and monitors operations and performance.
Performs routine installation, maintenance and repairs on facility, equipment, and systems, as assigned, and as determined competent to include, but not limited to: installs or makes repairs on pumps, engines, motors, conveyor systems and boiler equipment, performs general maintenance such as painting, adding chemicals to boiler, changing gas tanks, refueling vehicles, patching holes, fixing leaky fixtures, unclogging commodes, and changing -filters, belts, locks, ballast, light bulbs, and ceiling tiles, installs, inspects, and tests fire extinguishers and fire alarm systems, performs basic carpentry such as putting up sheetrock and shelving, assists maintenance mechanics with repairs on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, boiler, pneumatic, irrigation, sprinkler, and sterilizing systems.
Performs preventive maintenance, inspections and instrument readings on equipment, machines, systems, and facility, as assigned, and as determined competent.
Provides for the safety of self and others.
Uses and maintains equipment, tools, materials, and supplies.
Documents work actions and provides support for administrative functions to include, but not limited to: maintains logs, records and reports pertaining to work orders and actions. participates in monitoring inventories of parts, supplies, and chemicals, estimates material requirements necessary for supplies and equipment.
Performs other duties, as assigned including, but not limited to: moves furniture, file cabinets, etc., cleans equipment room or other areas, picks up trash. cleans out incinerator, cleans roof tops and roof drains.

Education Requirements:
• High School or GED.
• Completion of vocational training curriculum for HVAC or minimum of 3 years on-the-job training.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
• Licensed in HVAC by State Department of Labor is preferred.
Professional Experience Requirements:
• 5 years of Operations - HVAC Tech in a commercial setting experience
• Requires basic knowledge of HVAC systems, pumps, CAV/VAV systems, electrical, boiler, HVAC control systems, and in the use of manual and power tools. Ability to read and interpret code specifications, diagrams, sketches, and operation/service manuals. Incumbent must demonstrate an ability to apply age-appropriate principles of communication during interaction with others. Incumbent must demonstrate competence per the position’s Skills Checklist before being allowed to perform independently.
