Brief Job Overview
USP is seeking a dedicated and proactive Facilities Safety and Security Engineer Manager to support Global Facilities Infrastructure and Engineering (GFIE), environmental health and safety (EHS) initiatives and manage physical security systems across USP’s Rockville and Frederick facilities. This role reports to the Senior Global Environmental Health and Safety Manager and collaborates closely with Director of Global Facilities Infrastructure & Engineering and the Director of Global Security for security matters. The position ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, promotes a safe work environment, and oversees the optimization of security technologies and protocols.

The Facilities Safety and Security Engineer Manager has the following responsibilities:
Manage outside vendors and their staff to ensure that all items related to building maintenance are conducted in a timely fashion, according to the manufacture’s recommendations or within required regulations.
Assists in executing plans and project improvements, as well as monitoring building systems, correct defective and inefficient operations through remedial maintenance and on time response to emergencies.
Provides project management support from initial designs through project completion.
Provides mechanical, and other advisory support for all building support systems including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, structural, plumbing and building automated systems.
Maintains and updates all USP building as-built floorplans.
Provide technical support for EHS programs aligned with USP standards and regulatory requirements.
Oversee life safety systems (emergency lighting, eyewash stations, fire extinguishers) and maintain egress routes and signage.
Support emergency preparedness, including drills and mass communication systems.
Support sustainability and energy efficiency projects (LEED, green purchasing, waste diversion).
Manage contractor safety documentation and training compliance.
Oversee physical security systems, including Datawatch, Vismo, CCTV, and access control.
Conduct threat and risk assessments; update security protocols regularly.
Manage incident response and reporting for security-related events.
Coordinate with local law enforcement and external security partners.
Provide security briefings and training for staff and vendors.
Continuously improving security processes and Command Centre operations.
Supervise and mentor team members and contractors involved in EHS and security functions.
Partner with internal stakeholders (Facilities, Global Security, EHS) to align safety and security strategies.
Support special projects impacting health, safety, and security.
Who is USP Looking For?
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety Management, Security Management, or related field.
Minimum 5 years in engineering facilities with EHS and security responsibilities.
Experience in managing security systems and compliance programs.
Strong knowledge of regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA) and security technologies.
Excellent project management, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional initiatives.
Additional Desired Preferences
Professional certifications such as CPP, PSP, or EHS-related certifications.
Experience in pharmaceutical or similarly regulated environments.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Compensation
Base Salary Range: USD $98,900.00 – $127,250.00 annually.
Target Annual Bonus: % Varies based on level of role.
Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate’s skill set, experience, qualifications, equity, and other job-related reasons.
