The Family Support Specialist (FSS) is responsible for initiating and maintaining regular and long-term contact/support with families. This activity will occur primarily within the familys home and be intensive (each visit should last for at least one hour). The interventions should be family-centered and strength-based and be directed at establishing a trusting relationship; assist in strengthening the parent-child relationship; assist parents in improving their skills to optimize the home environment; improving the family support system; and increasing the familys ability to problem solve and assume the role of advocate for themselves and their children. High School diploma or Equivalent with knowledge of infant and child development. Working with or providing services to children and families, humility to work with culturally diverse families, an ability to establish trusting relationships.
Must attend all required trainings, accept individual differences and be willing to engage in building reflective capacity Must be flexible in dealing with change, provide own transportation and insurance, and have a safe driving record, no criminal or abuse/neglect history
