Special Education Teacher – $55/hr – Rockford, IL – Full School-Year Assignment

Position Overview:

The Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction to students in kindergarten through grade 12 under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator. This educator delivers individualized academic and behavioral supports, collaborates with school teams, and ensures services are implemented according to each student’s IEP.

Assignment Details:

Location: Rockford, IL

Start Date: April 1, 2026

Duration: 1 full school year

Schedule: Monday–Friday

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Pay Rate: $55/hour (local or travel)

Modality: In-person

Openings: 15 positions

Bonus: $1,500 sign-on bonus (paid at spring break) + $500 completion bonus at end of school year

Details of Assignment:

  • All positions are self-contained classrooms

  • Multiple grade levels available: early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school

  • Classrooms will be opened based on incoming hires, offering flexibility in age group and assignment

  • Educators will support students with varying academic, behavioral, and functional needs

  • Virtual interview required

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction in a self-contained SPED environment

  • Implement IEPs, accommodations, and modifications

  • Support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals

  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administrative staff

  • Complete documentation, progress notes, and family communication as required

  • Participate in IEP meetings, team planning sessions, and staff collaboration

Requirements:

  • Valid state teaching license (Special Education certification preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Experience working in self-contained or special education settings preferred

  • Comfortable working with a variety of needs and grade levels

  • CPR, TB screening, and health certificate if required

  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
