CNC Machinist

4-Day Workweek | Aerospace Manufacturing | Automation & Robotics

We’re looking for a skilled CNC Machinist to join a high‑tech, highly automated manufacturing environment supporting aerospace and precision industries . What You’ll Do

As a CNC Machinist, you’ll operate and support advanced machining and automation systems while producing high‑quality precision parts.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Operate and adjust CNC mills, lathes, and multi‑axis machining centers

  • Work with robotic systems for automated loading, unloading, and part transfers

  • Perform tool changes and offset adjustments to maintain accuracy

  • Monitor automated production cells to ensure smooth, efficient operation

  • Troubleshoot CNC, robotic, and automation issues to reduce downtime

  • Perform in‑process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges

  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings

  • Support job changeovers, setups, and first‑piece inspections

  • Complete required production and quality documentation

  • Follow all safety and quality standards , including AS9100 requirements

  • Collaborate with teammates on process and automation improvements

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines and automation systems

What We’re Looking For

Required Skills & Experience

  • CNC machining experience (mills, lathes, multi‑axis machines)

  • Ability to hold tight tolerances in a precision or aerospace environment

  • Strong blueprint and GD&T interpretation skills

  • Experience using precision measuring tools

  • Ability to troubleshoot machining and automation issues

  • Attention to detail with a strong commitment to safety and quality

Nice to Have

  • Basic understanding of G‑code / M‑code

  • Experience with robotic arms or automated machine tending

  • Familiarity with PLC‑controlled automation

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience

  • Willingness to learn new technologies and processes

Schedule & Shifts

  • First Shift:

  • Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

  • Second Shift (Multiple Openings):

  • Monday–Thursday, 4:30 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.

  • Includes shift differential

  • Optional overtime on Fridays

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.25/hr.
