Supplier Development Engineer (Contract – Hybrid)

Locations: Charlotte, NC • Orlando, FL • Houston, TX

Manpower Engineering is seeking a skilled Supplier Development Engineer to support our client’s global Supplier Development organization within Strategic Procurement. In this role, you’ll help strengthen supplier capabilities as a key driver of operational performance, quality, and long‑term competitiveness.

You will work cross‑functionally with procurement, engineering, quality, and operations teams to execute high‑priority supplier initiatives while also helping harmonize and elevate supplier development practices across the enterprise.

What You’ll Do

  • Assess and improve supplier production systems by identifying constraints, stability issues, and capability gaps, and driving targeted improvement actions.(Focus areas may include capacity modeling, bottleneck/constraint analysis, flow and lead‑time reduction, and KPI/operating rhythm development.)

  • Advance supplier capabilities in production technologies, manufacturing methods, capacity, and system robustness.

  • Translate enterprise‑level priorities into clear, sequenced supplier development initiatives.

  • Convert hands‑on improvement work into scalable tools, including standard work, playbooks, and training materials.

  • Operate effectively in a matrixed global environment through technical credibility and strong cross‑functional influence.

  • Balance direct, hands‑on improvement projects with broader organizational enablement through structured methodologies and guidance.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering , or a related discipline.

  • Significant professional experience improving production systems, operations, or supplier capability within complex industrial environments.

  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with data-driven decision‑making, including experience with digital/AI-based tools.

  • Ability to document methods clearly and enable others through training, coaching, and knowledge sharing.

  • Demonstrated success influencing and collaborating within matrixed organizations.

  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 40% , depending on supplier priorities and project phases.
