Research Assistant Professor: The Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology is seeking A Research Assistant Professor position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Yumei Feng Earley at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC). The successful candidate will contribute to NIH-funded research investigating the neural mechanisms underlying hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic disorders, with particular emphasis on salt-, diet-, and obesity-related hypertension. The Feng Earley laboratory studies the central neural circuits and molecular mechanisms that regulate blood pressure and metabolic homeostasis, using multidisciplinary approaches that integrate systems physiology, neuroscience, and molecular biology.
Responsibilities:
The Research Assistant Professor will lead and participate in research projects aimed at understanding neural and cellular mechanisms of cardiometabolic disease. Key experimental approaches include:
In vivo cardiovascular physiology, including conscious blood pressure recording using telemetry systems
Fiber photometry and neural circuit activity monitoring
Brain-targeted microinjection for gene or drug delivery
Electrophysiology, preferably brain slice electrophysiology
Confocal and super-resolution microscopy
Molecular and cellular studies of signaling pathways
Experimental models of salt-, diet-, and obesity-induced hypertension
The candidate will also contribute to experimental design, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and mentoring of trainees in the laboratory.
Qualifications
Ph.D. Degree or equivalent
Eligible for a Faculty Appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry
Post offer Drug Screen required
Compliance with University and New York State health requirements

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
