Description

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center is seeking a director for its Institute for Family and Relational Health. Established in 2007, the Institute and its component programs focus on integrating family therapy and the biopsychosocial model to promote relational health for families, physicians, and leaders.

The Institute is comprised of two programs – the Family Systems/Therapy Training Program and the Physician Communication Coaching Program. The Training Program consists of a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy Program, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education; a Post-Degree Certificate Program in MFT for mental health professionals seeking MFT licensure; a Post Degree Family Therapy Training Program to enhance Family Systems and MFT principles for counselors, ministers, physicians, nurses, social workers, and school counselors as well as postdoctoral psychology fellows in the UR’s APA-accredited Psychology Training Program; and Residents in psychiatry and family medicine.

The Coaching Program provides physician faculty coaching and systems training; leadership development; team development; medical student and resident coaching; and the coaching academy that trains and supports the development of communication coaches. The Program currently provides medical student and resident coaching to departments, including emergency medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, internal medicine, neurology, neurosurgery, Ob/Gyn, Orthopedics, pediatrics, psychiatry, surgery, and urology.

This position is supported by the Dr. Laurie Sands Distinguished Professor endowment of Families and Health at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Candidates for this position must be able to engage with a multitude of diverse leaders across and outside the University including donors and the Office of Advancement.

Total annual compensation ranges:

Associate Professor w/experience $135,000 - $177,960

Professor $180,500 - $275,000

Qualifications

Applicants for this position must:

· Hold a doctoral degree

· Have or have held an academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor with a minimum of five years experience or Professor, preferably in an academic medical center

Be a NYS licensed behavioral health provider prior to start – licensure as an LMFT or clinical psychologist preferred

· Have experience providing family therapy and/or teaching family therapy in an accredited Master’s or Doctoral program

· Experience in managing finances for a large training program

· Be knowledgeable about the biopsychosocial model and its application to clinical work, medical education, and leadership development; and

· Have experience with communication coaching and leadership development, preferably in an academic medical center. With a diverse population of providers

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
