Job Title: Construction Materials Testing Technician

Job Description

The role involves providing critical materials testing and observation services on various projects including roadways, bridges, airports, large commercial developments, and remediation. You will perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed, in accordance with training and specified procedures.

  • Provide clear documentation of findings and results.

  • Conduct basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.

  • Communicate relevant information to the Project Manager and other personnel.

  • Possess at least one year of experience in field testing.

  • Train lower-level technicians, depending on experience level.

  • Maintain equipment and ensure proper calibration.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in construction materials testing (CMT) with a minimum of one season of work.

  • Proficiency in using laptop computers, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

  • ACI Level 1 certification.

  • Familiarity with nuclear gauge and NETTCEP.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Ability to pass a drug/background check (THC is permissible).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience driving vehicles such as a Ford F-150 or equivalent.

  • Potential to train under the Field Supervisor with growth potential into Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager roles.

Work Environment

This position is 95% field-based with typical working hours from Monday to Friday, ranging from 8 to 12-hour days. Weekends are optional. Expect more working hours in summer than in winter, with an average of 40-50 hours a week. The company provides a supportive environment with training and advancement opportunities. Benefits include a gas card/company truck, GPS scoring card incentives for good driving records, and premium pay for overnight and weekend roles. The company also supports certification and extra training programs. Employees work from either the Rochester or Buffalo office but may drive across Upstate once a week. The company is employee-owned with profit-sharing opportunities.

This is a Contract position based out of Rochester, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
