Job Title: Asphalt Paving Foreman
Job Description
The Asphalt Paving Foreman leads daily paving operations in the field, coordinating crews, equipment, and materials to safely deliver high-quality asphalt paving projects on time and to specification. This role combines hands-on equipment operation with crew supervision, quality control, and effective communication across the jobsite.
Responsibilities
Assist with daily planning, crew assignments, and jobsite coordination to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Supervise paving crew activities to achieve production goals while maintaining quality standards and project timelines.
Operate paving equipment as needed, including pavers, rollers, skid steers, loaders, and related machinery.
Monitor asphalt placement, joint quality, compaction, grades, and mat consistency to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Enforce safety policies and procedures, conduct regular toolbox talks, and lead by example to promote a strong safety culture on the jobsite.
Communicate clearly and professionally with crew members, truck drivers, inspectors, and project managers to coordinate work and resolve issues.
Perform daily inspections of equipment and the jobsite to identify and address maintenance or safety concerns.
Assist with documentation, including load tracking and material usage, to support accurate project records.
Step into higher-level leadership responsibilities when needed to maintain continuity of operations and decision-making.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3 years of asphalt paving experience.
Demonstrated understanding of asphalt paving processes, grades, and compaction methods.
Ability to read and interpret plans, grades, and job specifications.
Strong communication skills to coordinate with crews, drivers, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
Effective problem-solving skills to address issues in the field and maintain project progress.
Ability to work extended hours and overtime as required by project schedules.
Capability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor as needed.
Valid driver’s license.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Prior leadership experience or experience as a lead operator in asphalt paving is strongly preferred.
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus.
Experience operating paving equipment such as pavers, rollers, skid steers, and loaders.
Proven ability to lead and motivate field crews while maintaining a focus on safety and quality.

Work Environment
This is a field-based role working primarily on active construction and paving sites. You will spend most of your time outdoors, operating and overseeing heavy equipment such as pavers, rollers, skid steers, and loaders, often in varying and sometimes challenging weather conditions. The position requires extended hours and overtime when project schedules demand it, as well as regular physical activity including lifting up to 50 pounds and performing hands-on labor. You will work closely with a paving crew, truck drivers, inspectors, and project managers in a collaborative, safety-conscious environment where adherence to jobsite safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment is essential.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $78000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
