FANUC America Corporation Service and Installation Engineer in Rochester Hills, Michigan

Job Description

In this role as a Service and Installation Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and/or implementing state-of-the-art robotic painting solutions for general industry, heavy truck, and automotive tier suppliers; this includes a combination of robot installation, site management, system commissioning, robot programming, and onsite support. You will interface and collaborate with other members of the Automotive Component and Industrial Paint (ACP) group on projects involving the installation and implementation of paint robot solutions at end-user facilities.

You must be a customer-focused, problem-solver with the ability to work in a highly autonomous environment.

Primary responsibilities will include

  • Install, startup, and debug of the system/unit being installed

  • Support the installation through buyoff and customer acceptance

  • Teach, modify, and fine tune robot paths and programs

  • Provide prompt, professional, and courteous solutions to customer problems

  • Process any, and all, necessary paperwork and provide the customer/FAC with detailed descriptions of the problem(s) encountered

  • Provide technical support to customers and various parts of FAC including Hotline, training segments

  • Provide training to customer, and other FAC team members

  • Coordinate responsibilities, activities, parts, and schedule with Engineering Manager, Project Manager, and project team members as appropriate to ensure customer satisfaction, and the completion of service calls or projects

  • Follow Engineering Guidelines and other standardized procedures to comply with product specifications, laws, and regulations

    Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent technical education; or equivalent relevant experience

  • 3+ years of experience working in a related environment with robotics integration, installation, or service repairs

  • Experience with intricate mechanical and electrical repairs and troubleshooting

  • Proven experience analyzing and solving service, engineering, and robot installation problems

  • Must be conversant in at least two of the following areas: electrical, electronic, computer science, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC, or mechanical

  • Ability to read and interpret prints and related technical documentation

  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license

  • Must be able to drive throughout the organization’s service area for business as required

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field

  • Customer-focused with strong communication and interpersonal skills
