Job Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description
The Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the operations of Filtration and Advanced Materials by performing safe and effective maintenance in alignment with production requirements. This role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, modification, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment while ensuring compliance with all safety, OSHA, cGMP, and food safety standards.
Responsibilities
Maintain a safe, accident-free work environment by enforcing OSHA, company safety policies, PPE usage, and Lockout/Tagout procedures; actively participate in safety meetings and initiatives.
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, rebuilding, modification, installation, and removal of plant equipment and assemblies.
Respond urgently to equipment breakdowns; communicate issues, near misses, and unsafe conditions to leadership in a timely manner.
Ensure compliance with cGMP, food safety, calibration requirements, and halt unsafe processes, when necessary, in the absence of operations personnel.
Maintain clean, organized production and workshop areas, and complete housekeeping duties continuously.
Utilize and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and test equipment to diagnose issues.
Assure proper documentation and communication of maintenance activities and concerns.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
High School diploma or equivalent
3–5 years of electrical and mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
Strong communication and basic computer skills
Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
Basic math skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and 100 lbs. with assistance
Experience coordinating maintenance activities and tasks
Proficiency using electrical test equipment (volt, ohm, amp meters)
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of 3-phase power and circuits
Understanding of AC/DC motors and controls
Experience with PLCs and basic troubleshooting
Familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives
Ability to interpret electrical schematics and ladder logic
Understanding of machine mechanics
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and NFPA 70E safety standards

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing environment with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, fumes, odors, and potential mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, or radiation hazards. Required PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, bump caps, gloves, hearing protection, and a respirator (if applicable). The position involves physical activities such as lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 250 lbs., standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, twisting, and working in tight or awkward spaces. The role requires performing repetitive tasks and working 12-hour shifts, with good close vision, depth perception, and focus needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roanoke, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.26 - $35.00/hr.
