Job Description
Deputy Responsible Pharmacist Duties:
Act in a deputy capacity to the company's designated Responsible Pharmacist, providing essential support in the execution of all statutory duties.
Assist in ensuring all pharmaceutical activities are conducted in strict compliance with the Medicines and Related Substances Act and overarching GXP quality guidelines.
Play a key supporting role during regulatory inspections and audits conducted by the South African Pharmacy Health Product Regulatory Authority and other health authorities, including internal audits.
Quality Assurance & Product Lifecycle Management:
Batch Release: Assist in the final review and disposition of finished product batches, ensuring all quality specifications and regulatory requirements are met before release to the market.
Complaint Management: Support the management of product quality complaints, assisting in their thorough investigation, root cause analysis, and timely resolution in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Annual Reviews: Contribute to the compilation and analysis of Annual Product Quality Reviews (APQRs), helping to identify data trends and drive continuous process improvement.
Product Stability Oversight: Support the monitoring of the ongoing product stability program. Assist in reviewing stability data to ensure product quality, safety, and efficacy are maintained throughout the designated shelf life.
QMS & SOPs: Support the maintenance and enhancement of the Quality Management System (QMS) and assist in authoring and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to GXP and quality compliance.
Pharmaceutical Governance & Operations:
3PL Collaboration: Act as a key quality liaison with our Third-Party Logistics (3PL) partners. Communicate and collaborate effectively to provide quality oversight, ensuring all outsourced storage and distribution activities comply with GXP standards and our quality agreements.
Operational Oversight: Assist in the oversight of compliant storage, documentation, and control of all medicines, including meticulous record-keeping for controlled substances.
Product Integrity: Ensure the integrity of products throughout the supply chain, with a focus on proper handling procedures in line with GXP standards.
Internal Guidance: Provide expert pharmaceutical guidance to internal stakeholders in Supply Chain, Operations, and Commercial teams to ensure compliant execution of business activities.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Qualification: Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) degree.
Registration: Must be registered as a Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
Experience: 0–3 years of post-community service experience. Candidates must possess hands-on experience gained from working within a pharmaceutical manufacturing (production) or Quality Assurance (QA) environment.
