Yard Mule Driver

PeopleReady of Lake Park, FL is now hiring Yard Mule Drivers in Riviera Beach, FL! A Yard Mule Driver (also called a Yard Jockey or Yard Hostler) is responsible for safely moving trailers, containers, and equipment around a yard, warehouse, port, or distribution center. The role centers on positioning trailers for loading and unloading, maintaining yard flow, and supporting warehouse and shipping operations.

Pay Rate:

The pay rate for this job is $20 - $20 / hour*

What you'll be doing as a Yard Mule Driver:

• A Yard Mule Driver operates yard mules, terminal tractors, or similar equipment to move trailers within a confined yard environment. The job ensures that trailers are staged correctly, docks stay productive, and yard congestion is minimized

• Move and position trailers using yard mules or terminal tractors to and from docks, staging areas, and parking zones

• Coordinate with warehouse and shipping teams to ensure trailers are ready for loading/unloading and moved on schedule

• Inspect equipment before and after operation to ensure safety and proper functioning

• Maintain yard organization by keeping trailer rows, staging areas, and dock lanes clear and orderly

• Follow all safety protocols, including speed limits, PPE requirements, and equipment handling procedures

• Assist with general yard duties such as checking trailer seals, monitoring dock assignments, or supporting shipping/receiving as needed

• Operating yard tractors for most of the shift

• Working outdoors in all weather conditions

• Communicating constantly with warehouse staff, truck drivers, and dispatch

• Navigating tight spaces and high-traffic areas with precision

Available shifts:

Shift Timings: 1st Shift (Day), Weekends

Job requirements:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment with PeopleReady

• Valid driver's license; some employers prefer or require a CDL

• Experience operating yard mules, tractors, or semi trucks in a yard or warehouse environment

• Strong spatial awareness and ability to maneuver large equipment in confined areas

• Attention to detail for equipment checks and trailer placement

• Ability to work in fast-paced, high traffic environments with shifting priorities

• High school diploma or equivalent is commonly required

• Background Check Required
