Aerotek Automotive Painter in Riverside, California

Job Title: Automotive Painter Job Description

As an Automotive Painter, you will be responsible for mixing and applying primers and topcoats according to manufacturer specifications. You will operate various spray equipment and ensure proper film thickness and coverage while following paint booth procedures. Your keen attention to detail will be crucial in inspecting painted surfaces for any defects and performing necessary touch-ups and rework. You will also be involved in troubleshooting defects, maintaining paint equipment, and supporting training activities. Adherence to safety requirements and continuous improvement initiatives are integral to this role.

Responsibilities

  • Mix and apply primers and topcoats per manufacturer specifications.

  • Operate spray equipment including HVLP, conventional, and airless systems.

  • Ensure proper film thickness and coverage.

  • Follow paint booth procedures and flash/cure times.

  • Inspect painted surfaces for defects such as runs, sags, and orange peel.

  • Perform touch-ups and rework as required.

  • Troubleshoot defects and work on complex assemblies.

  • Maintain paint equipment and perform routine cleaning.

  • Support with training others.

  • Read and interpret work orders, technical drawings, and paint specifications.

  • Follow Good Documentation Practices for traceability.

  • Comply with all safety requirements including PPE and hazardous material handling.

  • Support continuous improvement and 5S initiatives in the paint area.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in general labor, painting, auto body, and hand tool operations.

  • Proficiency in industrial painting, paint prep, and spray gun usage.

  • Familiarity with industrial paint applications such as sandblasting, coating, and powder coating.

  • Knowledge of epoxy, polyurethane, or solvent-based coatings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work with hands for extended periods.

  • Capability to lift and move materials up to 25 lbs with or without assistance.

  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.

  • Proficiency in reading and following basic drawings or work instructions.

  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow directions.

  • Reliable attendance and a strong focus on safety.

Work Environment

The role involves frequent use of hands and fingers for tasks such as welding, grinding, and assembly. You will need to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 40 lbs, with occasional assistance for heavier items. The job requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods. Hand-eye coordination is essential for precise operations, and good visual acuity is required for inspecting welds and reading drawings. The work environment may expose you to hot and cold temperatures, moderate to high noise levels, and welding fumes. Proper PPE, including a welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothing, is mandatory to ensure safety.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Riverside, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
