Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
As a Controls Engineer, you will tackle complex control engineering challenges and program within Rockwell Automation and Siemens toolsets. You will provide 24/7 support for businesses and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Collaboration with maintenance and operations teams is key to resolving root-cause issues, reducing downtime, and enhancing safety. You will design, select, manage, program, and commission automation equipment to improve existing systems, including PLC programming and interfacing with HMI, MES, and SQL database systems. Your role will enable both internal and external partners to understand design standards, implementation strategies, and best practices, while maintaining proper documentation. Identifying opportunities to increase safety, reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and improve quality is essential. You will also mentor and train others to improve safety, decrease downtime, and extend off-hour support resources.
Responsibilities
Solve complex control engineering challenges within Rockwell Automation and Siemens toolsets.
Provide 24/7 support for businesses and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to address root-cause issues, reduce downtime, and enhance safety.
Design, select, manage, program, and commission automation equipment to improve existing systems.
Enable partners to understand design standards and best practices.
Identify opportunities to increase safety, reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and improve quality.
Mentor and train team members to improve safety and lower downtime.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math).
Five plus years of professional experience with automation and control systems design.
Proficiency with PLC Hardware, PLC programming, and automation controls.
Ability to contribute to large-scale projects.
Knowledge of Electrical Standards (NFPA79, National Electric code, UL508A).
Knowledge of Safety standards (ANSI B11/RIA 15, OSHA).
Working knowledge of CAD for updating and creating electrical drawings.
Applicable knowledge of HMI and programming languages.
Availability for on-call rotation 3-4 times per quarter.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Siemens.
Experience in Power Systems and Power Electronics.
Proficiency in programming and tuning variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Heavy Industrial or similar industrial experience.
Experience in fast-paced iterative design and manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of Industrial Ethernet networks, Wireless Networks, and field bus networking.
Experience with motion control systems consisting of motors, drives, and encoders.
Knowledge of cyber-security protocols and methods to ensure systems are secure.
Work Environment
The role is primarily onsite.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Risingsun, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
