Position Summary
DuPont is seeking a Tyvek® Consumer & Industrial – Innovation Technical Lead to support the Tyvek® Roll Goods Business. Working in a “two-in-a-box” model with the Global Tyvek® C&IC Innovation Market Lead, this position will identify, prioritize, and develop new applications and platform opportunities across consumer and industrial markets.
Key Responsibilities
New Application & Opportunity Identification
Identify new application opportunities driven by market trends and customer needs.
Translate customer and market insights into technical opportunity concepts and application hypotheses.
Technical Strategy & Feasibility
Define technical value propositions, performance targets, and areas of differentiation.
Lead technical feasibility assessments, including performance, scalability, manufacturability, cost structure, and sustainability considerations.
Identify technical risks, gaps, and development needs, and recommend mitigation strategies.
Application Development & Validation
Lead early‑stage application development activities.
Develop and execute testing and validation plans.
Integrate customer, market, and technical feedback to refine solutions through iterative development cycles.
Cross‑Functional & External Collaboration
Serve as the primary technical interface for new business initiatives, working closely with Tyvek® C&IC cross‑functional teams.
Build and leverage external technical collaborations to accelerate development.
Portfolio Prioritization & Business Support
Support business case development by contributing technical assumptions and insights.
Provide fact-based technical assessments to guide decision‑making.
Contribute technical input to opportunity prioritization, portfolio reviews, and stage‑gate or governance processes.
Transition to Commercialization
Define technical roadmaps to transition opportunities from early development toward commercialization.
Ensure effective handoff of mature opportunities to Product Management, Business Units, and Technology organizations.
Qualifications
MS or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in R&D, application development, or technical innovation roles involving nonwovens, technical fabrics, or membranes is preferred; experience in the Sport, Agrotech, or Ecotech industries is considered a plus.
Demonstrated ability to translate customer and market needs into technical solutions.
Proven experience leading cross‑functional technical projects in complex or ambiguous environments.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in an agile, exploratory, and fast‑paced environment.
Familiarity with innovation funnels and stage‑gate processes is preferred.
Previous B2C experience and strong business acumen are considered a plus.
Ability to travel up to 30%.
