Acosta Group Regional Retail Manager in Richmond, Virginia
DESCRIPTION
The Regional Manager role at Acosta is a senior‑level sales and operations leadership position accountable for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and strengthening distributor and retail partnerships across an assigned geographic region. This role provides strategic oversight and hands‑on leadership to ensure consistent, high‑impact execution of Goya’s sales and merchandising strategies within Walmart.
This position requires strong operational discipline, people leadership, and a solutions‑oriented mindset to protect execution, maintain coverage continuity, and deliver against both short‑ and long‑term business objectives.
Travel Requirement: Up to 60% travel, including in‑market store visits, client meetings, team development and client engagement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales & Growth Strategy
Develop and execute regional account strategies to drive volume growth, revenue attainment, and expanded product distribution within Walmart.
Translate national Goya priorities into actionable regional plans that support merchandising, promotion, and seasonal execution.
Identify growth opportunities, risks, and competitive dynamics within the region and adjust strategies accordingly.
Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong partnerships with Walmart store leadership, market teams, and independent brokers.
Serve as a senior regional representative for Crossmark and Goya, reinforcing credibility, responsiveness, and execution confidence.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for regional initiatives.
Retail Execution & Merchandising
Ensure compliant execution of planograms, shelf standards, pricing, inventory levels, and promotional displays.
Conduct regular store walks and audits to validate execution quality and address gaps in real time.
Drive consistent execution standards across the region to protect brand equity and sales performance.
Coverage & Workforce Execution
Own the regional coverage strategy , ensuring consistent execution across all assigned Walmart locations using defined resources as appropriate.
Proactively identify, mitigate, and resolve coverage gaps resulting from attrition, LOAs, onboarding delays, compliance issues, or operational disruptions.
Lead workforce planning and headcount optimization , aligning staffing models to store volume, workload intensity, travel efficiency, and seasonal needs.
Establish clear coverage expectations, inspection cadence, and escalation protocols with direct reports.
Serve as the primary point of escalation for coverage‑related risks , providing timely, solution‑oriented recommendations to internal leadership and client stakeholders to minimize business disruption.
Leadership, Hiring & Talent Development
Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and lead managers and their direct reports to drive accountability, execution excellence, and engagement.
Partner closely with Talent Acquisition, HR, and Operations to accelerate hiring, onboarding, and training—ensuring associates are store‑ready, compliant, and effective prior to assignment.
Coach leaders through performance management, succession planning, and team development.
Reinforce Crossmark’s leadership values, compliance standards, and operational expectations.
Performance Tracking & Reporting
Analyze regional sales data and operational KPIs to monitor performance, identify trends, and course‑correct as needed.
Provide regular reporting and insights on sales results, execution quality, coverage stability, and marketplace dynamics.
Leverage data to inform decisions, prioritize resources, and support recommendations to leadership and clients.
Operational Excellence & Risk Management
Ensure adherence to Walmart policies, Goya standards, contractual service levels, and Crossmark compliance requirements.
Identify executional, compliance, and workforce risks early and implement corrective action plans.
Drive continuous improvement by standardizing best practices and eliminating recurring issues across the region.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in CPG sales, account management, or related fields; DSD (Direct Store Delivery) experience required .
Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage teams in a fast‑paced, field‑based environment.
Analytical Skills: Strong capability to analyze data, forecast results, plan territories, and make operational decisions.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence across retailers, distributors, and internal partners.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred.
Travel: Willing and able to travel up to 60% of the time.
