Four Season Recycling & Trading, LLC Lead Equipment Operator in Richmond, Virginia

The Lead Equipment Operator's duties include inspecting, preparing and manipulating heavy equipment to ensure the appropriate movement of materials and communicating with coworkers to ensure that the projects are completed accurately. The Lead Equipment Operator (LEO) is responsible for communicating between management employees of the Four Season Recycling (FSR) Team and the other workers in the plant to accomplish production goals. The two white boards in the office that have all of the information that is needed to know what needs to be done each day. The LEO will be required to conduct all duties in a safe, diligent and productive manner at all times.

Responsibilities:

Working with other plant employees and management employees to make the best decisions for the overall good of the company

Learning to operate the various types of equipment used in a recycling plant such as forklift, skid steer loader, roll cutter, vertical baler, two ram baler and industrial shredder.

Maneuvering motorized heavy equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials

Daily inspection and completion of the form for the mobile equipment

Observing stipulated safety rules, practices and procedures at all times

Communicating with coworkers so that everyone understands project tasks and works as a team

Reporting injuries, unsafe acts and conditions and other accidents to management

The daily goal should be to have two empty trailers that can be used by the driver the next morning to service our accounts.

Advising the Assistant Plant Manager of needed equipment or building upgrades, repairs, and replacements

Training co-workers to safely perform the duties required to be an Equipment Operator. They include but are not limited to: loading and unloading trailers, weighing and grading incoming materials, processing inbound materials to make them ready to see, operating the roll cutter, the vertical baler, the forklifts and the skid steer loaders. Once the EOs are well-trained on all of that, some of them will be trained to operate the two-ram baler. That will be a management decision.

Aiding coworkers to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift

Every effort is expected to facilitate a cohesive team that can communicate professionally and work together to achieve what is best for the company overall.

Providing suggestions to refine workflow, eliminate unnecessary handling and boost efficiency

Housekeeping inside and outside which includes:

o Outside maintenance of property around the building and outside of the fence to include trash and litter pickup, making sure work areas are clean and free from tripping hazards, grassy areas are cut and trimmed, loading docks are blown off and the parking lot is free from debris and litter.

o Empty outside and inside trash receptacles into the compactor at the end of the day.

o Cleaning of plant restroom and upstairs breakroom area weekly

o Put tools, brooms, rakes, garden hoses, etc. in a safe place when not in use so they are not damaged by moving equipment.

o All flammable liquid stored in fire cabinet or in designated space outside.

o Make sure electrical boxes, cabinets, fire extinguishers and E-stops are not blocked and are easily accessible.

o Keep exterior loading docks free from clutter.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Prior experience operating a variety of heavy equipment - forklift, skid steer, baler, etc.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Excellent vision or the use of prescribed lenses

Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination

A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines

Capacity to provide and follow direction

Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure

Ability to work extended hours, as required

Prior experience in the recycling or waste management industries a plus
