The Senior Manager of Plant Operations is responsible for the overall management of production within the plant site. Successful management of production areas will be accomplished through active involvement and development of work teams, appropriate coaching and feedback, effective resource utilization, and visible team leadership. This leadership role includes day to day operations through Team Leaders, as well as continuous improvement processes and programs through Area Leaders. This role is also a vital part of the site's senior leadership team and must be capable of navigating complex challenges with a solutions focused approach.

Responsibilities

Lead continuous improvement for plant processes, asset utilization, and operation efficiency

Drive improvement in team performance through effective communications to all levels of the Operational team

Foster and develop productive partnerships with Engineering, EHS, HR, and Quality Systems departments

Effectively manage employee relations and performance management issues in coordination with Human Resources

Provide leadership necessary for the development of salaried and non-exempt salaried employees in an effort to create a well-trained, highly motivated workforce

Implement the standards of Factory Performance & Reliability (FP&R) within the teams, with focused emphasis in regards to People Capability, Visual Workplace, Autonomous Maintenance and Continuous Improvement.

Ownership of total labor costs in an effort to achieve site specific cost savings targets through our fund the growth initiative (FTG).

Support implementation of Quality Assurance and Food Safety initiatives. Ensure personnel adhere to Hill’s policies, safety standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices, including Quality Assurance and Food Safety

Champion Environmental Health Safety (EHS) initiatives

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

10+ years of progressive supply chain experience

5+ years experience in production/operation management and project or process engineering in a manufacturing environment

Experience within or demonstrated understanding of the Quality function within a manufacturing environment

Preferred qualifications

MBA preferred

Engineering degree preferred

Food manufacturing experience preferred

Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication, coaching, and feedback skills

Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple initiatives and manage in ambiguous situations

Strong interpersonal skills that foster an environment of trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Physical Requirements

Must be able to bend, climb, crawl, work in confined spaces, work in hazardous condition spaces, work in extreme weather conditions, use hazardous materials and ability to work at heights of up to 120 ft., use a mechanical lift, or ladder

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $124,000.00 - $174,000.00 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
