Job Description
The Electrical Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical and electronic systems that support a large manufacturing operation. This role focuses on wiring, motors, circuits, and a wide range of control and power distribution equipment, ensuring reliable and safe operation of both new and legacy machinery.
Responsibilities
Install and remove wiring, motors, and electrical circuits as required during the repair, upgrade, or installation of equipment.
Install, diagnose, repair, and replace electronic and electrical devices, including instruments, controls, test equipment, motors, motor controls, power distribution panels, and electrical circuits.
Troubleshoot and maintain closed-loop control systems, semiconductor systems, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
Perform troubleshooting and repair on variable frequency drives (VFDs), DC-powered equipment, and other systems operating at 480 volts and below.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and documentation to support effective troubleshooting and repair.
Follow ladder logic in PLC programs to identify faults and restore equipment to proper operation.
Support the safe startup, shutdown, and operation of equipment after maintenance or repair activities.
Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial electrical systems and components.
Ensure all work complies with electrical codes, safety standards, and internal procedures.
Essential Skills
4 or more years of industrial maintenance experience OR an associate degree in a relevant technical field.
Hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting, specifically with Allen-Bradley or Siemens systems.
Ability to read and follow ladder logic for diagnosing and resolving control system issues.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills on equipment operating at 480 volts and below.
Experience with motor installation and troubleshooting, including three-phase motors.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
Experience troubleshooting and maintaining VFDs.
Experience as a journeyman electrician, maintenance electrician, or in industrial maintenance.
Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems and safe work practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
10 or more years of industrial maintenance experience is a plus.
Journeyman card is preferred.
Associate degree in a related discipline is preferred.
Experience working in large manufacturing environments with a mix of new and older equipment.
Comfort working with PLCs, three-phase motors, and complex electrical control systems.

Work Environment
The role is based in a large manufacturing facility with approximately 240 or more employees and a mix of both new and older equipment. The environment can be hotter during the summer months due to the nature of the production processes. The position follows a third-shift schedule, typically from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Sunday night through Thursday night, with paid breaks that include two 10-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch period. You will work around industrial machinery, electrical panels, PLCs, three-phase motors, and VFDs, using standard electrical tools and test equipment in a hands-on, production-focused setting.
