The Director, Quality Engineering owns and drives quality across Optum Enterprise Imaging business. They guide our R&D teams to standardize testing procedures, increase test automation and adoption of AI tools to increase test coverage and product quality in conjunction with our QARA teams.

Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborates with the QARA team on quality SOPs, metrics, and outcomes
Guides teams through CAPA process, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions
Actively reviews escaped defects across the solution regularly with stakeholders to examine the five whys, and ensure corrective actions are taken and all teams are aware of the findings
Owns and drives quality across the solution through strategic direction and novel approaches
Standardize testing approaches, tools, and outcomes across the solution
Drive innovation in the testing process, adopting industry standard best practices and new tools and technologies
Improve and maintain test frameworks and test coverage through AI & automation
Provides guidance, mentorship, and coaching to all quality professionals in the organization
Works with product teams to acquire and manage a library of real-world test data
Ensures solution level quality through cross-functional integration testing
Actively reviews and develops strategic initiatives that are in congruence with the business goals of product quality, technical innovation, and operational efficiency
Oversees large scale projects to ensure compliance, quality, budget and timelines are met
Drives technical excellence and innovation through experience, industry best practice, and collaboration with other leaders and innovators

Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
10+ years in Engineering
3+ years as Director of Quality or equivalent role
Hands on experience defining and running quality KPIs, dashboards, and review cadences
Experience leading embedded QA/QE teams with matrix accountability, influencing outcomes without direct line authority
Experience leading geographically distributed teams
Experience operating in regulated or risk sensitive environments where quality, documentation, and traceability matter
Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-organizational stakeholders and Engineering leadership on standards, compliance and outcomes
Proven leadership of root cause analysis and corrective action governance across teams
Comfortable holding engineering leaders accountable when quality standards are not met
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a regulated industry or with medical devices
Experience driving AI adoption across engineering teams to enhance PDLC efficiency and quality

The salary range for Canada residents is $127,500 to $264,700 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
