Insight Global Assistant Accountant in Richmond, British Columbia

Job Description

Join one of North America's Grocery stores as an Accounting Assistant! Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Accounting, this role focuses primarily on Accounts Payable operations while supporting timely and accurate financial reporting, period-end close activities, compliance with accounting standards and internal controls, and special projects.

Perform key Accounts Payable functions, including invoice processing, vendor statement reconciliation, payment preparation, and resolution of discrepancies.

Ensure Accounts Payable transactions are accurately recorded and compliant with established accounting policies and internal controls.

Support month-end and year-end close processes by preparing accruals, deferrals, and journal entries related to Accounts Payable and other assigned accounts.

Maintain and reconcile Accounts Payable and related general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Examine and analyze accounting and financial records, documents, and system data to ensure accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness.

Assist in the implementation and adherence to standard accounting policies and procedures to support management and business practices. Support departmental and company goals through participation in projects, process improvements, and cross-functional initiatives.

Perform other accounting duties and ad hoc assignments as required.

Skills and Requirements

Degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.

Enrollment in the CPA program or pursuit of a professional designation is an asset.

Minimum of 4-5 years of hands-on accounting experience, with solid exposure to Accounts Payable in a retail or high-volume environment.

Experience with general ledger functions and period-end close processes.

Strong attention to detail, accountability, and critical thinking skills.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel; with strong communication skills

A collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to speak, read, and understand Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is preferred.
