Scientist Associate II / Scientist I Location US-WA-Richland Job ID 2025-11372 Overview Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Scientist Associate II / Scientist I in Richland, WA. This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD). Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities Responsible for conducting scientific and/or analytical studies in support of 222-S Laboratory operations and developing conventional scientific solutions to technical task activities and objectives. Perform a variety of scientific duties including but not limited to: waste and environmental sampling/analysis, process control support and data quality, Vadose zone characterization, interim and final corrective actions for soils, performing and/or reviewing scientific calculations/analyses, preparing specifications, reports and data tables. Collaborate with other technical staff to devise new approaches to scientific problems. Develop technical plans and reports, including integration with DOE-RL and other site contractors, obtain customer and stakeholder acceptance. May serve as a lead by directing the analytical activities of Technicians. Under limited supervision, assume technical responsibility for one or more related phases of a program. Cooperate with other engineers/scientists performing related phases of the technical work. Be cognizant of the work performed in other projects in field of technology. Accept the delegated technical responsibility for design, application, test, or the preparation of specifications for systems, materials, equipment, or components. Apply technical knowledge toward the reduction of the cost and improvement of the product where possible and incorporate new ideas resulting from engineering/scientific progress in the field. Identify, collect, and analyze technical information relevant to the quality and significance of a specific research and other scientific development issues. Demonstrates problem solving skills in making preliminary selections and adaptations of scientific alternatives. Prepare technical manuals, reports, and procedures. Prepare, deliver, and submit technical presentations for technical review meetings. Demonstrate creative ability through the ingenuity exercised in solving technical problems or preparation and presentation of technical papers, articles, talks or patent disclosures. Conduct site/area visits and investigate scientific problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations. Verify and comply with scientific documentation standards and test procedures. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree (BS) in scientific discipline and 2 years directly related experience or Master's Degree (MS) or higher in scientific discipline Desired Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (BS) in scientific discipline and 7 years directly related experience or Master's Degree (MS) in scientific discipline and 5 years, directly related experience. PhD in scientific discipline and 3 years directly related experience. Compensation Grade 16: $90,150 - $113,550 Grade 18: $109,013 - $137,538 The grade level offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidate's education, training, and/or relevant experience.
