CTG Probabilistic Safety Analysis Engineer III - New Nuclear in Richland, Washington
CTG is seeking to fill a Probabilistic Safety Analysis Engineer III – New Nuclear position for our client.
Location: Richland, WA
Duration: 12 months
Duties:
Perform complex Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA) and Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) tasks, including hazard analysis, consequence analysis, and defense-in-depth evaluations
Apply engineering fundamentals to support design modifications, plant operations, and independent safety assessments
Support Owner’s Engineer activities, including oversight of construction, design reviews, and advanced reactor development projects
Participate in site licensing and construction permit activities; assist in regulatory compliance efforts
Review and interpret regulatory and industry guidance, including NRC, NEI, and EPRI documentation
Provide input to project schedules and review timelines for engineering and construction activities
Conduct highly complex engineering analyses supporting systems, programs, audits, and inspections
Serve as a technical advisor on specialized engineering challenges, utilizing innovative and non-standard problem-solving techniques
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers; guide small teams in resolving complex technical issues
Develop and implement new engineering policies, programs, and procedures aligned with strategic objectives
Identify design, operational, or quality issues and initiate corrective actions through formal processes
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
Skills:
Strong expertise in Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) methodologies and standards (e.g., ASME/ANS RA-S-1.4)
Proficiency in PRA model development, initiating event analysis, event sequence analysis, and uncertainty/sensitivity analysis
Knowledge of advanced nuclear reactor designs (e.g., High Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactors)
Familiarity with transient and accident analysis, including radioactive source term evaluation
Ability to interpret and apply PSA/PRA modeling results and safety codes
Understanding of seismic and fire PRA methodologies
Familiarity with NEI 18-04 and other industry guidance
Experience with large-scale construction and design/build projects
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical leadership capabilities
Experience:
Experience supporting nuclear plant design, licensing, construction, or safety analysis activities preferred
Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead technical efforts on complex engineering projects
Education:
Minimum of 3 years of discipline-specific engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
OR 5 years of discipline-specific engineering experience with a high school diploma/GED and a Professional Engineer (PE) license
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $53.00 to $66.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
