Provides assistance with patient care activities and other tasks under the general supervision of a licensed professional staff and as directed by the unit manager. Population served based on scope of services in the department.
Responsibilities:
Provides daily physical and emotional care to patients: ie bathing, toileting, feeding, ambulating, etc in accordance with hospital policy/procedure
Answers call lights in a timely fashion providing assistance to patients or escalating requests/concerns to PCT or RN
Obtains vital signs including height, weight, intake/output, and other procedures per competency
Maintains a safe and clean environment, utilizing appropriate infection control techniques (patient room, utility room, unit)
Assists in stocking unit with supplies
Recognizes when to seek help from PCT and license personnel for changes in patient condition
Demonstrates use of appropriate body mechanics
Communicates problems to RN, charge RN or unit manager as appropriate
Maintains patient safety through preventative measures (ie. Side rails, bed/chair alarms)
Enhances the patient experience through attention to patient and family/visitor needs.

Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance
Performs other duties as required

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
-Interpersonal skills, team player
License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:
- BLS required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire
Working Conditions:
Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
Occupational: Some occupational risk
Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
