Security Technician - Physical Security Systems

Location: *Renton, WA, United States *Category: *Technician - Physical Security Systems *Description Position Purpose As a LONG Security Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various security systems, including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion alarm systems in commercial, industrial, government, and corrections environments. This role involves working independently on routine service tasks and collaborating with project teams on more complex assignments. You will provide excellent customer service, ensuring that systems are operating efficiently and effectively while addressing any technical concerns that arise. Please note this position is collectively bargained through IBEW. Applicants should be current members or eligible to join. Compensation

  • Licensed EL06 General Foreperson: $59.80 per hr. (Whole Package: $80.52)
  • Licensed EL06 Foreperson: $54.81 per hr. (Whole Package: $75.34)
  • Licensed EL06: $49.83 per hr. (Whole Package: $70.17)
  • All benefits provided by IBEW.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties or tasks assigned as required.   • Install, repair, and maintain both IP and analog based security systems including access control, video management, intrusion detection, IP intercom, nurse call and mass communication systems.
  • Accurately document completed work and submit time entries daily through the relevant software.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections of systems, including tasks such as cleaning, replacing parts, updating software, and optimizing systems to prevent failures. Inspect for physical damage, wear, and signs of degradation.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, addressing inquiries, providing technical guidance, and resolving issues.
  • Educate system users on proper operation and maintenance of products and systems.
  • Advise customers on necessary replacements or critical repairs for maintaining equipment functionality.
  • Troubleshoot IP networks to ensure ongoing system performance.
  • Proficient in installing and servicing electronic door hardware.
  • Responsible for maintaining and repairing IP based Camera systems, Access Controls, Paging, Digital Intercom Systems
  • Training to maintain HMI and PLC based control systems, LAN and WAN Network
  • Attend construction meetings as required for projects.
  • Assist in developing quotes, including time and materials estimates, for small projects or system upgrades.
  • Provide input for updating drawings and maintaining equipment records, including submitting redlined documents to application engineers for as-built documentation.
  • On-call work and out of state travel may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

2-year technical degree OR 2 years related experience with IP based networking or electronic security systems required or equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge of Electronic principals such as AC/DC theory, Ohms Law, ability to read and understand a digital Volt/Ohm meter.
