Jacobs Structural Engineering Professional Associate in Reno, Nevada

We’re seeking a Structural Engineering Professional Associate to be based in Reno, NV and various unanticipated worksites in the US.

Responsibilities:

Competently performing all conventional aspects of Structural Engineering and analysis. Planning and conducting work requiring judgement in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Exercising sound engineering judgement and problem-solving skills, not hesitating to reach out to others for guidance or confirmation when questions arise. Possessing knowledge of principles and practices of seismic design, including ability to apply required provisions of the building code. Exhibiting a high level of attention to detail and quality control. Being committed to checking your own work, reaching out to peers and seniors for guidance when questions arise. Performing calculation checking of other engineers' work. Taking responsibility for managing workload, making and keeping commitments, and taking full ownership of assigned work. Taking complete ownership of your portion of the structural scope, reliably working to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements. Taking the initiative to determine what is needed to meet the project and client needs. Clearly defining your own scope and starting to develop your ability to forecast level of effort needed to complete that scope. Being ready to identify scope change and escalate it to your Structural Lead or Project Manager. Recognizing when help is needed, reaching out to peers and senior engineers for guidance. Working in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner with strong attention to detail. Developing leadership skills. Providing technical guidance, coaching, and/or mentorship to designers/drafters and less experienced engineers. Being proactive in advancing workflows, systems, and tools within the structural discipline. Embracing emerging technologies. Leading a team of Structural Engineers and Designers in the development of calculations, specifications, construction drawings, and the structural model. Fully understanding all structural scope, recognizing how that scope is both generated and impacted by other disciplines, and identifying scope change. Developing and managing schedule, budget, and staffing forecasts for the structural scope. Attending project meetings and taking an active role to help team resolve concerns and solving problems across all disciplines. May be asked to act as the stamping Engineer of Record. Taking ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the deliverables, including calculations and all construction documents; and, Participating in and champion internal, cross-discipline, and external project quality reviews.

Telecommuting/Hybrid Schedule is allowed.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering or closely related field and 5 years of work experience as a Structural Engineer or closely related occupation.

SPECIFIC SKILLS: Expertise/ knowledge of: Structural analysis and design software. Documented technical communication and technical writing skills. Building engineering design, including phases spanning from preliminary design through to construction. US building codes. Design of steel, concrete and post tension structures.

Professional Engineer License.
