*SUMMARY DESCRIPTION *Under general supervision of the site administrator, oversees and maintains operational and personnel records and reports; keeps assigned building areas clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly; secures buildings and grounds; performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance; supervises custodian staff, and performs special projects. The incumbent performs related duties as required. * DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS *

  • This position oversees custodial positions at their site. The Site Facilities Coordinator I is responsible for the proper cleaning, safety, and accomplishments of one or more full or part- time Custodians who work day, afternoon or evening shifts and are assigned to their school facility or department.* *
  • The Site Facilities Coordinator I classification exercises journey level coordination, custodial, and extra-curricular activities that are less difficult, complex, and varied in scope or performs specialized duties in one area. This classification is usually assigned to elementary or ancillary facilities.
  • The Site Facility Coordinator II oversees custodial positions at their site. The Site Facility Coordinator II is responsible for the proper cleaning, safety, and accomplishments of one or more full or part-time Lead Custodians or Custodians who work day, afternoon or evening shifts and are assigned to their school facility or department.
  • The Site Facility Coordinator II classification performs journey level coordination, custodial and extra-curricular activities that are more varied, difficult and complex in nature. This classification is usually assigned to middle school facilities.

*EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES *

  • Plans and assigns cleaning and service maintenance duties; oversees work of subordinates; inspects completed work for conformance to standards; orients, trains and provides input of subordinates performance evaluations; provides input to recommend personnel actions such as transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Maintains operational, administrative and personnel records and reports; inventories, requisitions, and maintains custodial supplies and equipment; prepares work carts with supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinates utilization of school facilities and equipment; opens up and secures assigned areas for special events; directs shift personnel in setting up furniture, tables, chairs, special equipment and placing safety barriers; assists in general school operations by receiving and distributing supplies, and helping with special projects.
  • Inspects buildings and ground for safety, integrated pest management, vandalism, or needed repairs and takes appropriate actions; performs service-maintenance duties on swimming pools, heating/air conditioning units,plumbing, and electrical equipment and systems; repairs broken furniture and custodial equipment.
  • Cleans and services assigned buildings and related areas; sweeps, mops, scrubs, shampoos, and waxes floors and other surfaces; vacuums and cleans rugs and carpets; dusts, waxes, washes, and polishes furniture and woodwork, fixtures, shelves, cupboards and counters; cleans walls and blackboards; cleans and sanitizes restrooms, showers; washes windows; empties trash and waste cans.
  • Performs outside maintenance such as removing snow, removing weeds, mowing, picking up debris and watering; adjusts and repairs sprinklers; washes and paints exterior surfaces; and plants, prunes and applies pesticides and ferti izers to turf, plants and shrubbery.
  • Participate in intensive cleaning and restoration of District buildings and grounds during break periods.
  • The incumbent may be called upon on off-hours for school emergencies, such as burglaries, vandalism, fires, or equipment failures.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Education/Experience: Any combination equivalent to education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be: A High School diploma is desirable or equivalent education that would demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the class; AND One (1) year of responsible experience in custodial work or an equivalent combination of maintenance training and experience. Some supervisory experience is desirable.

Knowledge of: Reading, writing and basic arithmetic sufficient to perform job duties successfully; cleaning materials, supplies, methods and equipment used in custodial work; heating, plumbing and electrical systems; general safety practices; basic emergency/first aid techniques; and supervisory practices and techniques is desirable.

Skill at: Understanding and carrying out verbal and written instructions; basic computer skills; training, coordinating, overseeing, and evaluating custodial personnel; preparing and maintaining personnel and administrative records and reports; operating, maintaining and repairing all custodial equipment; performing building and grounds maintenance; performing repair work on swimming pools, furniture, boiler operations and electrical and plu
