Chinook Systems Operations & Maintenance Project Manager (REMOTE - TRAVEL) in Remote, Virginia
The Work:
As an Operations & Maintenance Project Manager, you will oversee performance-based facility operations contracts supporting mission critical environments. This role focuses on contract compliance, preventive and corrective maintenance execution, plant operations oversight, subcontractor management, and long-term asset performance.
This role requires strong leadership, technical understanding of complex mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams in mission-critical and secure environments. You work closely with internal engineering and operations staff, subcontractors, design partners, and Government or commercial clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and in accordance with contract requirements.
This position is REMOTE, and your base of operations will be your home, but you must be able to travel to client sites up to 25% of the time. The majority of our clients are in the Eastern Time Zone of the United States, especially in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as primary contract lead for O&M programs.
Ensure compliance with Performance Work Statement or Scope of Work requirements and performance metrics.
Monitor KPIs, response times, and system uptime requirements.
Lead monthly performance reporting and client briefings.
Oversee Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs.
Manage Corrective Maintenance (CM) workflow.
Direct Service Order (SO) development and execution.
Ensure quality control inspections are conducted and documented.
Oversee plant operators and controls technicians.
Ensure proper operation of central utility plants, Building Automation Systems / Direct Digital Controls (BAS / DDC) systems, SCADA, and MEP systems.
Validate root cause analysis and reliability improvements.
Manage exterior systems maintenance subcontractors (e.g. Pest Control, Landscaping, Snow Removal, Architectural).
Track subcontractor performance and service delivery.
Coordinate specialty trades while maintaining prime technical oversight.
Manage contract and/or project budgets.
Forecast labor and material expenditures.
Identify cost savings and operational efficiencies.
Manage risk mitigation and contingency planning.
Identify energy optimization opportunities.
Lead reliability and resilience initiatives.
Support contract recompetes and follow-on pursuits.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor's Degree and at least 8 years of directly relevant experience. A High School Diploma and 13 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Requires at least 4 years of experience managing people.
Requires sound technical knowledge and knowledge of industry best practices for complex Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls systems in commercial / federal applications.
Proficiency of business tools and databases is required.
Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, PowerPoint).
Requires a Valid State Issued Driver's License and the ability to travel to various work sites.
Citizenship/Clearance Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain up to a Top Secret clearance due to our customer requirements and the nature of the work that we do.
Preferred Qualifications:
An Active Secret or higher Security Clearance.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
Physical Considerations:
Must be able to walk construction sites with uneven surfaces, carry up to 25 lbs., climb stairs and ladders, and work both indoors and outdoors in severe weather conditions, in confined spaces, and in dust generating environments.
Must be able to maintain spatial awareness and comply with safety standards while working near mechanical and electrical building equipment and systems.
Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
Annual Salary, Dependent Upon Qualifications and Experience: $120-135K.
