The Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) provides a diverse mix of analytical instruments and associated services to a broad range of end user markets including Safety & Security, Environmental, Food Safety, Energy, Mining, Life Science Manufacturing and Recycling, to name a few. Its instruments are deployed in the field and on the line, in challenging environments where customers put a premium on robustness, reliability and ease of use. They allow them to make decisions where they operate and streamline their businesses. CAD is a complex division with a global footprint, broad product portfolio and diverse customer base.
The Production Process & Analytics (PPA) business is a part of CAD. PPA has over 700 employees globally with historical revenues in excess of $200 million dollars.
Within our EMEA Production Process & Analytics Business Unit we are looking for an experienced and motivated Field Service Engineer, product line Gauging for Thickness and Basis Weight Measurement (Web link: www.thermofisher.com/gauging ) and if required extending to other product lines and/or applications.
As a Field Service Engineer III, you'll provide expert installation, maintenance, and repair services for sophisticated analytical equipment. Working with advanced technology, you'll deliver outstanding technical support while building strong relationships with customers across a wide range of industrial facilities and sectors. You'll resolve complex issues, conduct preventive maintenance, and train users to ensure optimal system performance. This role offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and development.
Location: Northern Italy (Milan area), France (Lyon or Paris area), or Austria (southern region)
Your Requirements:
Advanced Degree plus minimum of 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating sophisticated analytical instruments
Preferred Fields of Study: Electronics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry or related technical field
Ongoing technical training and certifications required
Demonstrated expertise with X-ray high voltage electronics, and complex electro-mechanical systems
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities for hardware and software issues
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to build positive customer relationships
Professional working proficiency in English is required; additional language skills are considered an advantage, particularly German, Italian, and French.
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and engineering drawings
Proficiency with Windows operating systems, networking, and standard business software
Valid driver's license and ability to travel domestic and international > 80%
Physical ability to lift up to 22,6 Kg and work in industrial environments
Experience mentoring and training others preferred
Ability to work independently while maintaining strong team collaboration
Availability to respond to urgent customer needs
Must follow all safety protocols and be able to work in cleanroom environments when required
