BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina Sr Communications Advisor in Remote Flex, North Carolina
Job Description
The Senior Communications Advisor, Executive Visibility and Voice partners closely with senior executives to elevate the enterprise brand and protect corporate reputation through strategic speaking engagements, earned media, social media, and high-impact events. This role operates at the intersection of strategy, storytelling and execution, calling for a versatile communicator who can adapt to what the moment demands while maintaining clarity, credibility, and momentum. The position is responsible for crafting compelling executive messaging and communications deliverables—including C-suite presentations, speeches, keynotes, video scripts, and digital content—for internal and external audiences.
Acting as a trusted advisor, the role influences and guides executive engagement to ensure alignment with enterprise-wide communications strategies, identifies and secures high-profile speaking opportunities, and leads complex, multi-channel communications plans. This work requires comfort operating across disciplines, navigating ambiguity and translating enterprise priorities into clear, credible narratives that resonate with various stakeholder audiences.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise across multiple communications disciplines, delivers clear and audience-appropriate storytelling across written, spoken, and digital channels, and demonstrates exceptional judgment, flexibility, and professional maturity while providing strategic counsel that advances both project-specific and enterprise goals. We are looking for versatile communicators who can move fluidly between long-term narrative development and rapid response, applying discernment to decide not just what to say, but when and how best to say it.
What You’ll Do
Write executive messaging, presentations, and other communications deliverables for internal and external audiences (C-level presentations, keynotes, video scripts, speeches, social media, etc.).
Act as a single point of accountability from strategy through execution—setting direction, developing messaging, and delivering high-quality communications without reliance on handoffs.
Leverage the diverse expertise of senior executives across speaking engagements, events, earned media, and social media to continuously enhance the brand and protect corporate reputation.
Exercise sound judgment, discretion, and executive presence in managing confidential information and navigating complex organizational dynamics.
Influence and guide executive engagement and outreach efforts to ensure strategic alignment with enterprise-wide communications plans.
Identify, pursue, and secure high-profile speaking opportunities, including top-tier conferences, panels, and industry forums.
Lead highly complex communication plans across internal and external audiences.
Partner directly with senior leaders to prepare them for high-stakes moments, including board interactions, crisis or sensitive communications, major announcements, and media-facing opportunities.
Showcase knowledge and experience of multiple communications disciplines (executive communications, public relations, social media, internal communications) with demonstrated depth in more than one area.
Deliver clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate communications across written, spoken, digital, and social channels.
Demonstrate a high level of flexibility, adaptability, and professional maturity.
