Small Batch Standard Accounting Manager in Remote, Florida
Ready to lead a team of high-powered accountants helping craft breweries master their numbers?
We're Small Batch Standard, a remote accounting, tax, and consulting firm built exclusively to serve the craft brewing industry. In short, we help breweries make more profit so they can focus on brewing great beer.
We're looking for a full-time Brewery Accounting Manager to lead a team of 6-7 accountants serving a portfolio of 40-50 brewery clients
This role is ideal if you're an Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant who wants:
100% remote work with no timesheets or hour tracking.
One clearly defined niche: you work only with craft breweries.
A stable, recurring book of clients you and your team get to know deeply over time.
A team filled with self-managing accounting experts dedicated to high performance.
Specific workload, delivery, and quality metrics to hit that eliminate the guesswork.
A streamlined client onboarding framework with well-developed processes for cleanup, tech setup, and accountant handoff.
A true manager role: you spend most of your week on coaching, review, and problem solving through your team instead of personally carrying a full book of clients.
Compensation and Benefits
We develop our managers with a clear mastery level framework and regular performance reviews. We strongly prefer to fill senior management seats from within when those roles open. We don't promise titles on a timeline, but if you want to grow and you perform, this is the right environment to do it.
Here's what this role has to offer as one of our core accounting team leaders:
Base Salary: $95,000-$109,000 per year based on skills and experience.
Production Bonus: typically $10,000-$20,000 per year when hitting targets, paid out monthly.
Total Compensation: $95,000-$130,000 per year including base salary and bonus potential.
100% remote, no in-office requirements, flexible schedule with no time sheets or hours tracking.
Full benefits (medical, dental, vision), 3 weeks PTO, and 11 company holidays.
Continuing education support through books, courses, and certifications, plus brewery visits and industry conference attendance so you actually see the impact of your work.
An all-expenses-paid annual retreat with the SBS team.
What You'll Do
You'll report to our Director of Operations and be responsible for the following:
Lead and develop your Accounting Team. Your success is measured by your team's success. You'll interview, onboard, train, and develop individual Accountants and Associates so they meet their goals and progress in their careers.
Oversee and manage your team's client portfolio. You'll be responsible for onboarding new clients each month and monitoring active relationships to ensure we are delivering on service commitments while keeping engagements within scope.
Review your team's Accounting Deliverables. You'll use our established review checklist to provide actionable feedback, maintaining high quality and helping Accountants improve their skill sets.
Flex to cover workload where needed. Most of your time will be spent leading, coaching, reviewing work, and solving client issues through your team, with occasional hands-on client work during transitions or coverage.
Own and improve your team's Scorecard. You are responsible for initiating adjustments to bring scorecard targets into range and escalating issues that are beyond your team's scope.
Work with SBS Leadership. You'll have a seat at the table, and act as a key decision-maker for cross-functional integrations with our Consulting, Tax, and Brand teams.
How We Measure Success
You'll know exactly what winning looks like:
Team On-Time Delivery: ≥ 90% of all client deliverables across your team are on time
Team Bookkeeping Quality: ≥ 4.5/5 average on our internal review scale
Team Close Quality: ≥ 4.5/5 average on our internal review scale
Client Load Score per Team Member: Average CLS (our internal workload scale) across your team that meets or exceeds their individual role targets
Accounting NPS Score: ≥ 70 for your client portfolio
Note: Targets may increase over time as we continue to improve.
About You
You'll be a strong fit if you:
Have the technical chops. You've got the fundamentals mastered. Integrations with QBO? Got it. Payroll accruals? No problem. Inventory reconciliation? In your sleep. Chart of accounts re-organization? Easy-peasy.
Aggressively solve problems. When issues hit your desk (clients, tech, people) you keep a level head, get to the root cause quickly, and use your team to get the job done.
Are a master communicator. You can translate our technical inside-baseball into clear, straightforward communication to clients. You can manage scope, negotiate boundaries, and make relationships with clients work.
Love to teach, coach, and train. You get more enjoyment out of seeing your team improve and succeed than you do with your own individual work, and thrive on opportunities to help them learn, fill in skill gaps, and achieve their goals.
Put others first while holding standards. Though we expect you to maintain boundaries, at every turn you look to support, elevate, and provide for your team. The best managers understand they succeed through their team and aren't afraid of direct, honest feedback.
Requirements
To be successful in this role you'll need to have:
5+ years of full cycle, accrual-based accounting experience managing recurring, multi-client portfolios within a public accounting or outsourced accounting firm.
1+ years of previous experience managing 2+ direct reports.
Rock solid proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Bill.com.
Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
Reliable internet, a quiet setup for video calls, and availability during normal business hours (9–5, Monday–Friday).
Preferred qualifications include:
Previous experience managing an accounting team of 5-7 in a remote, public or outsourced accounting environment.
Previous experience onboarding, cleaning up, and handing off new public accounting clients to other team members.
Experience with the following platforms and tools: Ekos, Square, Toast, Gusto, Podio or Asana.
Our Culture
We're fully remote, with team members and clients located all across the U.S. and have developed our own unique culture we call The SBS Way. The right person for this role will personally subscribe to and use the following core values as a guide for their day-to-day work:
Be Antifragile. Everything we do is an opportunity for learning and continuous improvement.
Play The Long Game. We make decisions in the long-term interest of our firm, our clients, and our industry.
Act as A Team of Experts. We collaborate and provide feedback to develop ourselves and deliver exceptional results for our clients.
