About the Team

The Search & AI Assistant team is a growing engineering group based in the Czech Republic, responsible for building the company’s Search platform and integrating a conversational AI Assistant. As usage and scope increase, the team is expanding with a clear path toward splitting into two focused teams, offering engineers the chance to join early and help shape the future of these platforms.

The team collaborates closely with product and UX partners in the United States while remaining fully co-located in CZ. The technical stack includes containerized .NET services, ReactJS, AWS, OpenSearch, and Amazon Bedrock, supporting modern, scalable search and AI-driven experiences.

Position Overview

Core Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications following established best practices

• Contribute to existing codebase while demonstrating good separation of concerns

• Collaborate on project planning and implementation with senior engineers

• Understand and adapt to existing system designs and technology choices

• Assist in developing solutions for small to medium-sized projects

• Implement and maintain automated tests and contribute to improving testing practices

• Follow established coding standards and participate in code reviews

• Communicate effectively within the engineering team

• Participate actively in team discussions and planning sessions

• Maintain awareness of ongoing team projects and initiatives

Team Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with senior engineers on project implementation

• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback

• Contribute to technical discussions and share knowledge with peers

• Support team members during challenging technical situations

• Build strong working relationships across departments

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

• 2+ years of hands-on professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend engineering

• Solid problem-solving skills and analytical thinking

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Technical Skills

• Experience developing backend systems using .NET / C# (preferred) or a comparable backend stack, with the ability to ramp up on .NET quickly

• Solid understanding of API design and modern API standards (REST, authentication, versioning, error handling)

• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar

• Good understanding of backend architecture, data modeling, and performance considerations

• Experience implementing unit tests, integration tests, and test automation

• Ability to design and implement backend features with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and scalability

• Basic familiarity with frontend technologies and how frontend applications consume APIs

• Ability to work independently on well-defined problems and take ownership of backend components

• Experience working in an agile, cross-functional, English-speaking team

• Commitment to delivering robust solutions and taking responsibility for assigned tasks

• Passion for writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Curiosity and a mindset focused on continuous improvement

• Adaptability to new technologies, evolving requirements, and a dynamic environment

Nice to Have

• Experience with search technologies such as OpenSearch

• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS preferred)

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

• Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools (Datadog, Prometheus, etc.)

• Experience with or interest in AI technologies and backend integrations

• Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React or previous full-stack experience

Physical requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods: The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods, typically 7-8 hours a day.

• Use of computer and phone systems: The employee must be able to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type. This includes using multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously.
