Facility Equipment Operator I – Redwood City, CA
Summary
Clean Harbors in Redwood City, CA is seeking a Facility Equipment Operator I to safely operate heavy equipment within the facility while supporting daily operations. This role ensures equipment is properly maintained, follows all safety and compliance standards, and assists with waste handling and tracking activities.
Shift & Pay:
The facility operates on two shifts:
Day Shift: 0600 hrs – 1400 hrs
Night Shift: 1400 hrs – 2200 hrs (shift differential applies)
New hires will start and train on day shift but must be flexible to work either shift based on business needs
Starting Pay: $30.00/hr
Responsibilities
Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, cranes, forklifts, excavators, roll-off tractors, skid steers, and haul trucks
Perform daily inspections and maintenance checks to ensure safe equipment operation
Follow all Health & Safety, Operations, and Compliance SOPs at all times
Complete and submit required paperwork for waste tracking and operational activities
Ensure containers are properly secured and stored in compliance with facility permits and DOT requirements
Review and stay current on all applicable SOPs and training requirements
Assist with preventative maintenance and basic equipment upkeep
Support additional duties as assigned based on business needs
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required
0–3 years of experience operating heavy equipment preferred
Ability to operate one or more types of heavy equipment (forklift, backhoe, excavator, etc.)
Ability to work in a team environment and follow safety procedures
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices
Ability to perform physical duties including climbing, lifting, and operating equipment controls
Valid certifications or training to operate heavy equipment as required
