As a Senior Software Engineer on the Smart Building & Workplace team, you will design, build, and ship agentic employee experiences and full-stack platform features that transform how Microsoft employees interact with their physical workspaces. You'll work across Angular front-ends, .NET APIs, Azure Container Apps, and M365 Copilot extensibility, building intelligent agents that surface real-time building data, campus services, and personalized workplace insights through natural language. This opportunity will allow you to accelerate your career growth by shipping AI-powered products at enterprise scale, develop deep expertise in agentic AI and M365 Copilot extensibility, and build full-stack platform engineering skills across Azure, .NET, and modern web frameworks. This role offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement with the expectation of working from the Redmond campus 3 days per week.

This position is based at the Redmond campus with 3 days per week work in the office and 2 days per week work from home. Relocation assistance is available.

Responsibilities

  • You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and partner teams to determine user requirements for smart building and agentic employee experience scenarios.

  • You will drive identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for platform services, APIs, and AI agent integrations across the Smart Building ecosystem.

  • You will create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor and reuse code across ReactJS, .NET, and Azure services to establish and improve performance, maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment

  • You will proactively seek new knowledge and adapts to new trends in agentic AI, M365 extensibility, and cloud-native patterns that improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing, optimizing, debugging, refactoring and reusing code across ReactJS, .NET, and or Azure services to establish and improve performance, maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment

  • Experience in the development of design documents for platform services, APIs, and or AI agent integrations.

  • Experience usin agentic AI, M365 extensibility, and cloud-native patterns to improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
